It was a champion cic3 something, a direct replacement apparently for original coil but got it as NOS so i was just assuming it was for a ballast coil. I do intend to swap the old oneback to eliminate this when i'm a bit calmer (dont want to take a hammer to it anymore!!)

right, the backround is-doing an a15 swap into my 1200 ute. Have replaced the coil with champion direct replacement coil. Have used pertronix electronic ignition kit in the dizzy, and wired up the alternator which was slightly differnent to 1200 alternator (we think correctly). Put battery in tonight to turn it over, and stright away smelt a burning wiring smell. tracked it down to ballast resistor above coil (Thats what its called hey??), was instantly hot as soon as key was turned on. Now does any wiring guru's out there have an idea what causes the resistor too heat up this quickly?? the options i can think of is: 1. The coil is wrong for pertronix 2. wired up pertonix wrong 3. alternator is wired up wrong, but engine hasn't been turned over, ignition just switched on 4. My ute is haunted and is fighting back after i ripped its guts out
i just pushed it back into shed in disgust after the 2 litres of oil i put in the top came straight out the bottom due to a huge hole in the sump!! just swapped it over for a new one and left it there. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

hey guys, changing my 1982 ute from 1200 to 1500 with 5 speed. Cant find my haynes manual, but i have read on here somewhere about different carriers for the clutch release bearing between 4 and 5 speeds. Can anybody tell me asap wether the newer a12 and a15 uses the same length carrier or whether i have to try to find a longer one to suit the a15 Engine was brought seperate from engine and didn't have one. Also cant find the answer using the search) Cheers
