New tyres?

Hey everyone,

I'm going to get some new rear tyres for the ute this week. Just wondering what you would recommend.

Haven't had to replace any tyres on the ute yet, so I haven't been able to mix and match.

I'd like something fairly soft and sticky (if there's such a thing) as a result I'm aware that these sorts of things would wear quicker but that's ok with me. Don't mind paying a bit extra for a quality product either.

Current tyres are 175/70/R13

What would you recommend?

I'd love to see the link as well. Sorry, but I dont mean to hijack.

I may have the chance to pick up a 200B GL for $50. Clock reads ~250k but the engine etc looks pretty clean.

MMM... L20b 1200

EDIT - I've found this on Datnet. Just reading through it right now. Seems like what we might be after!

I agree, leave the car exactly how it is. It's getting harder and harder these days to find one in such a good condtion.

How's the condition of the engine? Had it tested?

Congrats man, and welcome!

Well, I got mine at about 8:30 this morning. When I found out what it was I wasn't so unhappy that the posty woke me up.

Fitted, tested and approved!!!

I'll have a go at answering this...

First of all, then head will have oval shaped intake ports. It'll also have double valve springs and larger intake and exhaust valves.

Intake: 35mm (optional 37mm)
Exhaust: 29mm (optional 30mm)

That's the head covered.

I think most (if not all) GX models came with a dual carbie setup as well.

Look for GX badges on the exterior if they haven't taken off already.

Hey Tyrie!!!

I think we talked about this sort of thing when we did my head gasket.

Direct bolt on job or what you recon (to an A12) will it run straight unleaded petty without the valve saver crap?

I'm keen.

I agree, don't cut your springs. I've also done it in the past and although it did get the right results (ride height, appearence) the cut springs never sat correctly on the seats and ended up damaging them. I then need to replace the whole strut and buy new springs to top it off.

Even popular brands of lowered springs don't go for that much. Just shop around. I got a full set of lowered Spax spring for a G100 Charade for $120. Fitting was free as I did it myself and wheel alignment $50 odd.
