I know of a person that had just bashed them back with a hammer. Not something I'm willing to do personally of course. I've put up a wanted, so I'll wait on that for a day or two then bite the bullet with Nissan I guess.

Thanks for that DD

Just called Nissan quoted the part# for the A14 pushrods and they're available for about $10.80AUD each.

I might hit up the classifieds section.

I've got a couple of bent ones from the weekend's accident, has anyone straightened them out and what would be the best way to do so?

Glad I saw this... Can I add another question...

Are you able to use A12 pushrods in an A14? or vice versa?

Yeah the gearboxes were different. One thing being my A12 gearbox had 2 sensors on the side of the box. The box off the A14 only had one and nowhere to put the "missing" one.

I know pictures would help describe what I'm talking about but I'm at work at the moment... umm "working"

I was under the car putting the shaft back into the gear box, goes in fine but then went to the back of the car to bolt it to the diff and there was about an inch worth of gap. If I pulled it back to actually do it up the front of it was still on the spline.

How much play can you have?

More like 3/4 through and man I wouldn't want to do this for a living.

A few problems encounted include engine mounts not lining up properly (new bolt holes fixed that) Gear box mounts either (reversed now)
Whilst stripping the A14 I had it cleverly mounted on the ground but after taking the alternator setup, intake and exhaust then turning away for 1 second BAM the engine ends up on it's side. Broken dizzy cap and one of the clips that hold it on too! And I was just about to remove the pushrods but half of them ended up bent after that. Ohh well.

Gearboxes were different length so I had to use a different drive shaft. Getting the damn shifter in and secure was a mega pain in the arse. Just couldn't get the holes to line up to get the shaft through.

Couple of scratches here and there from removing/installing the engines.

After taking off my GX head I found where one of my weber's butterfly screws ended up too. Ended up in one of the cylinders and damaged a portion of the combustion chamber. You can see distinct thread marks on the surface.

The car was running OK from what I could tell, wasn't pinging or blowing smoke or anything but can/would you get this machined?

All in all I had a great time getting really dirty.

So what's left to do? GX back on (pending) hook up extractors and intake side of things. Really looking forward to it.

Thanks to Mildman too for his write up on engine swaping.
