i dont think we get the 2.5ltr turbo in nz. my mate and my girlfriends dad both own one so ive driven them both alot. good bang for buck car and the new ones are a vast improvement on the older ones. got to have a huge petrol allowence if youve got a heavy foot!! also got to have alot of $$ set a-side if you drive them hard. in the first year of owning his my mate had to replace the turbo and gearbox.

ive never realy run in my engines. i just start them take them for a 5 minute drive under 4thou and then retouque the head etc and then give them death. then change the oil after 1000 k or so. its only the euro motors that need heeps of runing in because theyre made to do 1/4 million miles. My girlfriends father races a mk1 vw golf gti and hes been told his new 1800 motor wont be fully run in for 5-7000km! its ok to give it heeps but it wont reach its full proformance till then. Any way ive never had any problems and i know a few pros who do the same.

hey Matt id love to see pics of that conversion. How far away are you from starting the engine? What do you do with the old cam gallery in the block? do you just block/plug it up? the mazda heads x-flow a, which sides the inlet/ outlet? if the inlets on the other side youll have probs clearing the brake m.cylinder with the carbs. (like the other 'mysterious' twin cam pic in the photo album). looking forward to seeing it. one big step for Matt, one big step for datsonkind.

It also seems the end is near for Pukekohe Race way. some famous sport ####-wit Watson has brought it and prefers horse racing to car racing so it will close in the next one or two years, he hasnt given a final date. they are supposed to be building another track out at Meremere but thats another 15 -20 mins out of auckland and it will be the end of cheep track days and racing for us Aucklanders.
