Thanks, I try to constantly do something to keep it up to date. On the cards is a complete respray, the paint is getting thin and flaky in some areas, which is the reason for the black ass as it is now, just a stop gap for some ugly paint problems...
No, I simple drilled the Alfa flanges to 114.3 PCD, 90 degrees out of phase with the old holes, and fitted studs in them. The flanges are plenty thick and strong and I don't think doing this will weaken them in any way.
I kept the Alfa disks yes, the pads are a bit thin on the ground, but they are the same as some later model Datsun and even Porche so you will get them. The original Datsun cable hooks in with a possible change to the length with some spacers for the handbrake(e-brake/parking brake). I left the handbrake of though, as I have an electronic solenoid which is does the job of the handbrake now, slightly step on brakes before switching of and it locks the back disks.
I cut all the original Alfa brackets off, made new saddles which was tacked on the housing with the diff in it's place resting on the leaves in the car and at the right angle. Welded it up outside, and fit it back in.
The Alfa diff is 35mm wider flange face to flange face. Not much, but with the wheels I was running, it was rubbing slightly, just had to roll the arches slightly and knock some of the underbody out the way. Works perfectly, and I don't understand, apart from keeping it 100% Datsun, why more guys don't use these on this forum, they are very popular in South Africa for the Datsun 1200 cars and bakkies.
I did upgrade the LSD portion though, they come standard with only 2 friction plates, 1 each side. Removed 2 spacers and replaced them with 2 friction plates, as I wanted it to lock up faster. Drives like any normal diff when just cruising, but any larger than normal prod on the loud pedal and it locks up instantly. Works great!!!
EDIT: On the driving experience, it gives me about 12km/liter of petrol if I just cruise at 120km/h. Any kick in the nuts and it gulps juice like it's free. If you look at the power graph, it already gives more everything at even as low as 3000rpm, than the original 1200 motor does, so it's perfectly tractable in any condition. Even in traffic it's a puppy, the upgraded clutch is a bit more difficult to control, but still ok.
The zorst is very quiet, with people always asking me to start it, "so we can hear what it sounds like", and when I start it they remark, "but it sounds like a Datsun", well duh...hahaha
I have a high low boost set-up, so for normal driving I just keep it on 0.5bar of boost, but when it's called for I flip a switch and goes up to 1 bar of boost to unleash all those horsies. Anyway, real pleasure to drive, and always good to give a hot hatch, what you guys call "ricers", the hiding they deserve.

Still getting chucked out randomly. But love my Datsuns, so I am lurking... Engine bay updated, built slightly shorter but 100% balanced turbo manifold. Fitted 60-2 Dictator management, wasted spark coils and completely redid wiring for ECU. Built and fit a 76mm mandrel bent 316 stainless zorst, turbo to tip. Chucked an Alfa LSD in there for good measure. Did a tune to make sure nothing checks out when I kick it in the nuts. Net effect is nice launch, still trying to lift the front wheels, and a new 1/4 mile time of 12.8 seconds.

My pa ken die Kent motors ongelooflik goed.

Hy maak 192kw op unleaded by 0.8 bar boost.

2) 76mm mandrel bent stainless zorst met 2 76mm straight through bokse. 4) Double diaphragm clutch plate. 5) 70mm stainless boost pype. 6) Water temp guage, Datsun se warm of koud doen dit nie heeltemal vir my nie. 7) 2 Bucket seats.
