Try looking for some oversize pistons made for the Mazda 323/ Ford Laser engine. They are close to the size you want and are a very similar design to the Datto ones. The wrist pin
is sleightly larger so you can open up your standard rods and there is plenty of meat in the crown of the piston for machining to suit the deck height and getting a good compression
ratio. Better still they are cheap. Try an engine rebuilder for a catalogue to hunt through.

I've got one, but the info is fairly basic,it was written in 1974 and suspension development has come a long way since then. But if you really want one i could copy
it for you.

There are at least 3 twin cams in NZ that I know of including one brand new one a good friend has. It is in an awesome 1200 coupe that has been built for historic racing. The motor sat in
pieces in an Auckland Nissan parts warehouse until we discovered it.There was another one floating around in an off roader which I am yet to track down. I will be posting some photos of
it and some other rare cars we have soon. The coupe sits in the garage beside a factory built Nissan 240 RS with the awesome FJ24 motor and theres not many of those either!

Firstly if your thinking about building a competition car rally or otherwise, get a set of rules/ regulations pertaining to the class you are interested in. 1200s love twin sidedrafts I have
always believed Datspeed to know their stuff but if what you say is correct their man needs shooting. Being competitive in motorsport requires the ability to read between the lines a little
and to push the envelope. The term "production" does it mean what was originally available in Aussie or what was sold around the world by Datsun? NZ had a 1200 race/rally special built called
the 1200SSS it had a lumpy cam and twin 40mm Dellortos and extractors off the showroom floor. It was the basis for many young guys getting into motorsport. In Japan the 1200 got the 1400 A
series and the L series motor and a super trick 1400 twin cam based on the A series block. 5 speeds were offered as an option too. So what you need to find out is what you can do first. With
Dattos the choices are huge good luck!!!

The A12A is just a later model A12. It was used from the 120Y/B210 models onward. It differs from the A12 with the engine mount position and the distributor is in the centre of
the block like its bigger versions the A14 and A15. If it has oval intake ports it has a GX cylinder head.

Here are the ratios as we worked them out, they are not the Nismo middle or ultra close but a mix of the two. They were sourced from a well known New Zealand Nissan race and rally
driver who drove for the factory so they may be a factory "special". 1st 2.544 2nd 1.908 3rd 1.221 and 4th 1.000. It's a good combination without the too tall ultra close 1st gear.

I've tracked down a complete unused close ratio gear kit for the 1200/120Y 4 speed. It is the later model wide tooth model which was developed for the 120Y. I don't have the exact
ratios in front of me but it has the really tall first gear. It is mint and still wrapped in wax paper. A friend has it and has offered it to me first I can't afford it but some one out
there must want one. He wants around US$500.00 for it. I'm in New Zealand but I could arrange freight anywhere. Any takers?

I'm still trying to track down some people who maybe able to shed some light on the Bathurst coupe. The specs for this car as I have them are 1171cc and an option 1 close ratio 5 speed. This
car was timed at 129 mph down Conrod straight at 11000rpm. The car was built to order in Japan by the factory race team. There were 2 coupes built for the 1973 race. Prior to that sedans had
been raced that had been prepared in Aussie.There may have been some coupes but I havent found any mention of them yet. 73 was the first year of the Group C cars and brake mods were allowed
to what extent I'm still unsure but it is possible they are either Holden or Ford five stud 14" rims. Datsun offered 14" racing rims in their Japanese racing parts brochures but they were 4
stud. For the record here are the results for 1200s at Bathurst. 1970 1st class A 1972 1st class A 1973 1st Class A 1976 1st class A( the car in the photo). 76 was the last year for the
1200s it's supposed successor the 120Y took over from then.
