Yup most aftermarket thermostats are rubbish, just one of those parts you should always get genuine. ive had the same problem with new(aftermarket) themostats and stock cooling setup. change the stat to a new genuine one... problem solve.

Hey are you tring to hold your whole air cleaner assemble with just that one stud/wingnut that goes through the center?? Cause i belive you are missing the two other brackets that hold the air cleaner lower housing to the manifold. that one bolt aint never going to do it alone and is really only to just hold the top plate and air filter in place. cheers tom

My two cents are on restricted fuel supply, probley a chunk of rust semi block the inlet in the tank or stuck in the lines. ive had a few dattos that seam to drive fine till you give them a boot full, then they suck #OOPS# up from the tank and struggle to run. try takin the fuel cap off and blowing a small amount of commpressed air(thats is you have a compressor?) backwards through the fuel line( you should hear it bubbling away in the tank.
