i wouldn 't think the cops would look sideways at your mazda piston powered ute... unless it is excessively modded and runs on methanol! (what times does it run) as fast cars are very much part of our culture there are quite a few of the on the roads!

if he spent 13k on the motor then why didn't he do the job properly and save half of the money and use for for efi and electronic ignition?

i have seen a bakkie in perth. pulled the guy over. moved here from sa not that long ago. 91 model it was. lives not far from me actually. from my understanding comercial vehicles do not require a cat. if i was you and you could afford it i would sell your old one and buy a new one to bring. you have to have owned it for 12 months though (i think this is right). the reason being is i dont think you are really gaining anything. 1200 utes are easy enough to come by here. i would get the new one for the body and modern interior perhaps. and the new ones are efi i think! you would know better than me.

From my experience, a 205/60*13 on a 6" rim makes the steering feel dead compared to the same tyre on a 7" rim, or a 185/60 on the same 6" rim. These later combinations definitely make the car more responsive. But this is not anything like stretching the tyres.

hence the term "slightly"

i dont know about qld but in wa most dirt go-karters run this and road racer sidecars in the past (don't know about now)

the stretching that being talked about has just taken this to the extreme. as with most things.

there is method to this madness! speedway guys have been running smaller tyres on their rims for years. (and yes didgeman i know some road racers that run this configuration). the reason being a slightly (and i say slightly!) stretched sidewall creates less flex. drifters do it too

edit... sorry dodgeman just noticed the miss-spelling!
