i know that the lisciencing centre has changed the rules. you no longer have to have an interstate vehicle go over the pits to change to wa liscience. reason being is to try and reduce the long line ups for inspection. if it is liscienced you might not have a problem. call the lisciencing centre

i have become very interested in how much it has cost people since i just built 2 myself. it can be anything as long as it works, from most elaborate to backyard budget.

edit... not intersted in dreamers, only those who have actually done it.

my car was already efi turbo so i will just do manifolds

suppose i should get a bit moe pro-active in selling these manifolds. i still have them

hey bailz. i would be interested to kow where you can make 2 manifolds, get a computer and associated gear for efi for $900. have you checked it out? i just built 2 new manifolds and the injectors (bosch type, not hosetail) and fuel rail cost $700. then you've got 200 in flanges, then the ali and steam pipe.

wow! this is really interesting! alot of opinions flying around here! i can only speak from experience as i obviously had an efi manifold on my car. it made 150hp at the treads on 12psi. there was more in it! ask any experienced engine tuner and they will tell you that intake manifold design and capacity has less effect in turbo motors. there are gains but marginal. put it this way. i do not expect to gain more than 5hp on the same boost because of the manifold change.i am only changing out of necessity. the ports are too big.

about my particular manifold that is for sale. maybe people should read things a bit slower and to comprend what is being said and look at pictures in a bit more detail. the manifold is NOT modified, it has an adapter that has been build to suit the magna throttle body. you do not want the factory tb as they are junk. twin throte, holes too small. yes it comes with the injectors and fule rail. i just paid $700 for a fuel rail and injectors for my new set up... that is what it costs. sure you could buy some secondhand injectors but they would need to be serviced and that brings you close to new ones anyway. i am biulding the manifolds myself and so far in materials your looking at around $250-300 and that is with out any bends. that happen to be $40 a bend. there is no way you will build a manifold with fuel rail and injectors for less an $700! to thinking about biulding intakes manifolds out of anything other than ali.... please do yourself and your engine a favour... dont do it! there is a reason manufacturers use ali. it has a far superior heat loss efficiency rate. if you use steel or stainless you are just heating the air going into yur engine which will cause all sorts of problems.

ps. i thought those manifolds came out on atmo motors so shouldnt they work alright? just change the tb!

where did you go and what do you get for the price? there is a guy on here i think his name is dazza1200 who is a head machinist in perth. mine cost $800 for full service and porting, bigger valves, guides, seats, double valve springs, welding, facing, compresion ratio check.

thats a bit complicated.

a computers wealth is in its tunability, not in the functions it has. how many load points, processor speed. how quickly and precise it takes measurements and responds and is able to respond. does that make sense? eg a computer measures manifold pressure. they can vary from 2 points (pos and neg) to maybe 6 or 8. the more measuring points there are the more precise and effective the tune can be.

i recently bought a megasquirt from the us $400 landed with harness. that is for the kit. it is not capable of running multi coil set up. it is great for the home guy but tuners will not like it as it is quite limited in capabilities.

a couple of suggestions...
dont call them ems(engine management systems) as this is a brand. car computers are refered to as ecu. i run an ems on my a series. it is very good. i would strongly recogmend this over microtech. it is more versatile. i have experience with both manufacturers.

perhaps to save some a phone call...

you still require an efi computer, fuel pressure regulator, efi fuel filter, return line to the tank, electric fuel pump and a throttle body ($40 from the wreckers for the magna one) to make it run...

what type of stuff depends on n/a or forced induction.

sorry i dont remember your name but to the guy (edit... ddgonzal!!) in the us who got one for $90 did it come with injectors? even without them i think you should put that in the 'bargain of the century' thread. injectors only are $100 each, and yes you can buy secondhandys but they will require servicing, which is $140-$180.

the garge run sounds interesting

just had a thought. what if a flyer was made and put on here in a pdf so we could print it and put it on every datsun we see to let people know it is out there???

the brushes you should be able to get from any auto electrics place as you can still get recon starters. they have to get them from somewhere???

chroming... not cheap! looking at about $200 a bumper and to my knowledge everything is sent over east. there isnt here that does it to my knowledge. best bet is to by a perth street car mag and flick through there. next option is to ring a hot rod place. they will sort you out!
