Also, i was only going about 20 mph when this happened.

Nothing really happened when I heard the pop. The brakes were still fine until the next day. they only started to get really bad by the second day. I havent seen any fluid leaking except a small amount under the diff but that could be something else. I do have a "master vac" hooked up to the master cylinder. I'm not sure if that's the same thing. The pedal is very firm.

So I was driving in my '79 b3l0 the other day and I was just about to pull into my driveway, when I heard a loud pop from the rear of the car, almost like it backfired. After that happened, the brakes in my car got progressivly worse over the course of about two days. At the time, my alternator was also starting to go out, so I figured it had something to do with that. Well, i changed the alternator (after a friend told me the breaking problem had nothing to do with the alternator) and, of course, the brakes were still bad. I filled up the master cylinder with brake fluid (it was pretty low)and it didnt change anything.
Here are some symptoms: One: I have to practically stand on the brake to get the car to stop. Two: The engine seems to struggle when I press the brake down. I dont know much about brakes so i'm not sure what the solution is here. Do I have a leak in the break line? Does anyone have ideas?

Has anyone heard this rumor about Nissan changing it's name back to Datsun? I read it in a thread at a Nissan Forums website. I didnt check to see if it was outdated. I wonder if they're going to change the whole compay name or do like Toyota did with Scion. It seems to me that Nissan (or rather Renault) is exploiting the name to gain profit. Thoughts?

Does anyone have any information, pictures or experience with air bag suspension. I'm wondering if it's a practical idea for a datto, and if so where I can go about finding parts for this application.

Ya, I mean the ones without the endcaps. Unless, the bumper still goes around the side with them off

Anyone have an Australian bumper for sale? I'm looking to clean up my datto's look and I hate the rubber overriders on North American models.

Yes, A bumper like shown would be great. I'm sort of going for a sporty hot rod look, so some overriders would be great...if they were chrome. I've been looking around for some overriders I could just attach to the existing bumper. I even thought of using a karmann ghia bumper. Thanks for the pics and insight, I appreciate all of it guys!

Here's the deal: I'm thinking of taking the old North American bumpers off of my '79 210. I know that this could be a no no to hardcore Datsun enthusiasts and to some degree i debate the thought of it as well. I'm thinking of taking off the back bumper, cleaning up the rear, keeping all the stock goodies visible but moving the license plate down and smoothing out the area where it was (I'm pretty firm on this idea). Where I start to second-guess myself is at the front bumper. I really don't like the rubber parts and if I take them off it will look like ass. So, I was throwing around the Idea of finding an older BMW or similar chrome bumper and fitting that on. Thoughts?
