I've seen 1200 utes with those wheels on but I also think that it's not a simple bolt on and go. I think they might be just a smidge too wide. You can also google "jaw 120y" or "stanza into 120y". That site may be of some help with what bits to use where and why. Good luck lets know how you go !

Nothing is going to be "cheap". It's probably cheaper to buy a whole new car with the conversion already done than to go through the whole engine conversion process yourself. I think there is a coupe for sale at the moment with a ca on this site. Very well priced too.
Either way best of luck

Sometimes it takes a while for members to pick up on threads. I don't think it was a crazy question. I'm fairly sure that in Queensland there is a rule where the kerb weight of a standard car is put into a calculation and thereby giving the maximum volume engine size. I think that Qld rule allows for a maximum of 2 liter natural aspirated or 1.8 turbo. There are no other mandatory requirements here like brake upgrades or drive line upgrades. The conversion must be approved by a mechanical engineer and have a blue mod plate attached and this has to be veiwed by dept. transport.
Having said that I have seen sr20 motors (turbo) in a 1200 . So take absolutely no notice of me !!!

Hey guys, Take a deep breath and count to ten....... And relax. If someone wants to draw attention to something for sale on the open market then I don't see anything wrong with that. We all look at ebay and search for Datsun goodies. It keeps Datsuns alive ! That's got to be a good thing eh. If you miss out on something don't worry , it will come up again.

A bloke told me once that to get a car lowered and looking right , you need to get a spirit level and put it on the seam under the sill to see if the car sits level or not. It seems like the front of dats-me could go down an inch, but hard to tell from the pics. Tidy lookin 120y though, much cleaner than mine !

I was tkinking of pulling out the busted clock and putting one in there. I wonder what would be the ideal size ? I've got a "type R" brand. I would highly reccomend spending the extra coin and getting a serious guage such as an "auto meter".

Hi. I haven't got one at the moment, but can you post up the details of it and I'll have a look around. I have a stanza one and a 200b one spare. Not sure what size they are.

You seem to know your diff from your daff. Can you tell me what diff is in a 200b? and while we are at it what diff is in a 4speed aussie built stanza (early 80s). Cheers Simon
