Changing your profile by 10% doesn't seem like a big deal to me (the uneducated). My main worry would be insurance. If you do certain mods to your car your insurance company may not be able to insure your car.
It must always be street legal . The risk is too high otherwise. (That's my opinion )

For what it's worth I'm a frugal sort of bloke .
Recently I've put a set of 175 60 13 Nankang directionals on the 120y. The car doesnt produce that much horsepower (L20b motor) . They worked out at about $75 each fitted blah blah blah. They wouldn't rate as a performance tyre but I have to say that I often push the car very hard and they are a very pleasing tyre. Predictable , quiet, they aint soft and stickey but what the heck I've got to say they are well worth the money.
I'm not sure if they make them in a 70 profile, by the way I got them from Beaurepaires and the guys there were great.

You must be joking !!!
Wagons are never cool.
Nobody goes out of their way to buy a wagon.
They just get handed out like food parcels at life line.
If you want cool, get a coupe or a 2 door sedan.
If you want to pick up the kids and the groceries and some hay bales get a wagon.

What crazy things has anyone done in their datsuns ?
Last week I bought an ex Australia Post (postie bike) known as a Honda ct110 (or something like that). Maybe it was a stupid thing to do but anyhow I decided that I would drive about 150klm to the sellers place with the intention of putting the bike in the back of my old 120y station wagon.
I'd done my research on laying the bike over for the trip, and many people told me that it would be okay as long as I drained all the fuel out of the bike first.
Well to cut a long story short a postie bike is a little bigger than you might imagine but within a very short time we had the bike inside the wagon with the tail gate shut and on the way back home. A very uneventful trip . I pulled the bike out of the wagon when we got home , filled her with fuel and off it went!! All good.
I'd just like to know what other crazy things people have stuffed into their cars ,utes and the like
Happy motoring!!!!!!!!http://datsun1200.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=12583

So any idea what your finished product will look like?
one day (when I'm way rich) I'll get a whole new dash. I've got the standard spec '74 120y (boring as you know what). I was thinking of going for a round guage sporty look. Does anyone know if the round guage dash (say out of a coupe) would be a straight swap into a '74 ? Cheers

Hey. I can try to organise the laser cutting of the plates and the construction of the bars through two different engineering firms in town here. Let me know the details if you like and I'll post up the results of my enquiries.
