I filled up my car today (Shirley). It cost me $46.00. Insane idea to own a car!

I'm buying a mate's 120y wagon and using some parts myself. Another bloke is interested in the motor. It's a stock 1200, good running order and I have no need for it.
I'm just wondering what a fair price would be , complete with starter dizzy, carb

A friend of mine is buying a car for his 18 year old daughter. He wants something near road worthy condition. The budget is around $1000. It doesnt have to be a Datsun. Can be any body shape. And prefer within 30min drive of Toowoomba (S.E. Qld).
If anyone finds a car too good to miss. Please let me know. Cheers

Well as I said the spin test came up negative . This arvo I managed to get the inspection/fill nut off. The pinky came out covered in oil. Soooo..... in a way that is good that there is oil there. There are no clunk type noises so I can only assume that I need to pull it down and replace the carrier bearings.

Ive seen heaps of 1200 and 1000 parts on at the moment. I've thought the reserves were a bit steep.

Well I've lent out my floor jack, so I had to do it the old fashioned way. Man what a chore ! Hope I never get a flat tyre.
The spin test was fine. No great noises maybe binding slightly on the brakes. The nut on the diff is about 28mm ? The only thing I had to latch onto it was a Chinese shifter, so yeah the nut is still there !
I guess I'll get to it later in the week.
85 140. Thats thick oil isnt it?

Thanks. I'll get on to it.
I think I'll do the spin test first.
I'm hoping it's only easy bearings.

Hi all,
I have a noise in the rear end and suspect the diff is out of oil.
I've never even inspected the diff oil before.
Do I use ordinary engine oil ? and how do you fill it ?
Do I need any special tools ?
It's a standard open 120y sedan bw diff.
It's just a daily driver .
Cheers

Webers will make you smile. No doubt about it. They sound great and if you get a mechanic who really knows Webers and how to get the best out of them ..... it's great.
I've got a pair of 40s and I'm happy.
However.
Fuel injection will get you from point to point faster than anything else (apart from turbo fuel injection).
EFI would be more fuel efficient as well I would guess.
