hi guys im having a bit of an issue putting the extension housing and selector fork and rod assembly back on my 63a 5 speed box. in my stupid rush i didnt watch how it all came apart but i know it was a pain in the a$$ to get off. what i need to know is what position do i put the selector fork (the tounge that engages in the selector rods for the gearset) in and the little part next to it that can spin 360 degrees and looks like it attaches to the fork then goes onto the reverse gear selector rod??? i have a couple of 60 series 4 speeds if they are the same setup (i cant remember if they are) that i could pull apart to check. any help would be appreciated cheers kurt

i recon back feed the pump, like you would prime a water pump via the oil pressure switch hole, its slow but it does work. then pull all of the plugs put and wind her over. get some oil pressure and run your engine then work out the issues after its been running for a while, id b interested to see the video because, that would help somewhat. we do that to the performance engines we build at work if they wont build pressure by just cranking. it normally takes a bit but

definatly doesnt sound healthy mate, try pulling out the oil pressure switch and feeding oil in there, thats what we do at work if it wont build its own pressure under cranking. as for getting hot and running badly its not a good sign, what got done in the rebuild?

well i got the race 1200 off the car trailer and put the gemini sports sedan on it to get fixed.
striped my 63a 5 speed ready for input shaft modification, removed the engine out of my ra40 celica ready to fit a 186 holden red motor in it (khanacross/motorkhana project).
and was a passenger in a stanza down a bush fire trail at about 60k's which a jacked up range rover struggled down at 20. man those r tough little things, until a rock removes the lhf tierod arm and decides to get in with me via the floor pan, so we drove it round on the chassis rail 4 a while. ohh so much fun until the rock lol

hi guys sorry to get back to you so late.
littledarkone: ive had a look at the area, it has surface rust and barely passed the screwdriver test, and the sweige line and most of the arch around the wheel is made of bog so its probably a no go, sorry mate.
andy: unfortunatly the other 120y had completly stuffed castor rods (it had been rolled) but the kink in this one looks like i could straighten it in a vice. ill take it off today and try and let you know how i go.
most parts still available except the gearbox and most of the front grill and bumper stuff.
