hey guys just wanted to show what i have been working on for the past 6-7 weeks...!
yes thats right 6-7 WEEKS lol been really hectic and expensive hiring car trailers from 1 place to another...!!
i just got out of the booth today and thought i might was well show it to you guys from start to finish

car history:

went to QLD in November and bought this orange ute that "looked" pretty good

drove it back to NSW, was fine

started stripping it and realizing that both floor pans was just fiberglass and had rail damage and the car was covered in about 5 layers of spray bog..!!

went to sand blaster as i was tight for money and couldn't get it acid washed, where it was stripped and then etched primed in one of the best stuff i had ever used..!!!

wanted to do something different with the quarts instead of just cutting and welding a metal shaped for the shaved look as i wanted to also keep the top line going from the door to end quart
deiced to see if we can fold and trim and re-weld to the inner panel to keep the quarts easy to change and still keep both shaved and line at same time.!

welded all panels in and floor pans and fixed rust areas and rail that had a small hit

bogged areas that had damage and trial fitted new panels to see if they lined up.!

off for primer and panels where done at my work

painted engine bay gloss black and painted the door inners and inside cab spirited green ( mazda 2 colour )

blocked and rubbed in my back yard and got ready for paint

THEN PAINTED with my secret glass flat paint job...!!!

hope you guys like it...!!! P.S sorry if photos turn out blurry, using stupid iphone..!!!

hey guys,
i am in need of a throttle cable for my ute, been everywhere and no one has any type of datsun throttle cables ( as i was hoping to just use a 120y cable)
does anyone have a spare cable lying around that they want to sell or trade for something or even give for free lol ..?
i live in the western sydney area.

water base paint is a good system for the environment but that's about all, basically just like using a 2pack system, spray the base colour then clear..!!!

i personally haven't used it on a full resto but they do come up pretty good, but i don't think they have successfully made a water base clear for it yet. so the colour would be painted in water based and then 2 packed cleared over...! but i haven't been in-touch with water base paint system for a while i could be wrong and they might have made a clear..!

hey sumith,

i am a spray painter by trade... if your first question about maintaining your paint job is meaning in an accident or in years to come, then acrylic is a quick and easy job to do repairs and touch ups (small areas) but also easy to paint full panels and most people can do it at home.
note: Acrylic will fade in time say once every 3-5 years and will need buffing.

But if your looking into the metallic or pearl situation i would recommend useing the 2-part (2-pack) system. The clear gives the paint a longer life time (10 -15 year) if done correctly.

choosing either matellic or pearl comes down to you and money, pearls do cost a bit more but the different veriations are almost endless (eg. blue car with purple pearl, or blue and white pearl, etc, etc) were metallic is more the base colour in your case blue and with small metal flaks which brightns the colour up about and give it a sparkly look in the sun.

as for your second question, just plain black is fine! just make sure on your plastic items you sand and clean and use a plastic adhesion promotor before spraying the colour otherwise in time it will flake off and show the under colour, for the metal items just prepair them like it was a panel on the car or if new metal items you can also buy painted adhesion promotor, but read instructions before using them.!
