Hello Andrew, I have an A14 in my 73 coupe. I used one of the mounts from the A12 and one from the A14. The left side mount can be drilled closer to the edge that the original mount hole and
it will work. I put a plate that covered the fuel pump on the right side and drilled the two mount holes. I use an electric pump. If you set your engine in place, bolted to the transmission,
you can see where to drill your holes. Be extremely careful that the engine is sitting level and not cocked to one side. People tell me that the A14 head is better because it has larger
valves. In my first 1200, I used the A12 head. It gave a cheaper way to gain more compresson and get better gas milage. If you are running a stock motor, that should be the way to go as
everything (carb, intake, exhaust, etc) stays the same. Your extractor will still fit the same as it did and it will also fis the A14 head. When I put my tuned header to the A14 head, I had
to cut off a lot of the intake manifold where it was connected to the exhaust manifold. I used a very unorthodoxed method of cutting off all of the excess metal. I had a power miter saw with
a carbon tip blade in it and I just took it off one sawblade width at a time while holding and turning the aluminum manifold in my hands. It didn't even dull the blade any. I also cut of all
of the mounting places on it that were not going to be used. I had to put in a larger radiator. I found a used VW Rabbit aluminum one, excellect cooling. Without the thermostat in it, the
temp guage would not even go up to the fisrt mark. I love running a cold motor. You lose in gas milage but you gain in power. I loved most, the 1171cc A12 motor. It would get its revs faster
and had a much better power band. I had my A12 turboed with a highly modified SU from a wrecked Jaguar XKE. I used a water/octane injection when I was on boost to keep it from detonating.
The A15 motor just doesn't have the rpm's and it does not rev as fast as the A14. It does have more torque but in a 1200 body, torque isn't needed as much as raw power. The torque does
however, help overcome the wind drag at top speeds. That is the only advantage the A15 has over the A14 and the only advantage the A14 has over the A12, especially if you have the sedan.
Stock, my sedan would do 94 MPH and my coupe would do 107 MPH. I have never had a hopped up engine in the coupe yet but I could get my sedan to 138 MPH with the mostly stock turboed A12 with
points. I can only imagine what the coupe would do with the same engine.
I hope this helps you and your endeavor.

To errrnstak, My coupe is a mess. It has been sitting for most of the past ten years. I put an A14 in it, stock 65 HP with a 77 model HD 5-speed. I drove it to DC last year and got 43 MPG
cruising at 70 MPH. It is wrecked in the left front an bit. It was wrecked when I got it. I found a fender but it is rusted a bit also. I put in almost everything new to the suspension. It
was wrecked once before and another right front was welded into it but they didnot do the greatest of jobs on that. I have been thinking about keeping it and redoing everything on it, since I
found this club. I had a sedan from new in 72 until 89 and that was my most favorite car ever. A lady friend named it Mario because it handled so well in 74. In 81 I built a hell of a little
motor for it and it ran like a bat out of hell and a friend's 11 year old named it Mareo Speedwagon. I don't think I want to sell it. I live in Knocksville, TN. You said that you come to the
east coast sometimes, I only live less than five miles from I-40. Contact me and drop by if you ever get close to here. I havenot seen another 1200 in the past ten years at all, not even in a
junkyard. I would love to find one that has been maintained well.

Sorry to hear about your accident, Simon. What size tires do you have on the front? I hope they weren't the stock 12 inch. They slide too easy when it is wet. I have 185 65 13 and they
still slide a bit. When I get new tires I will go with 195 60 13 for the front. I have 195 60 14 on the rear on 1975 280Z aluminum wheels and they grab pretty good in the wet. Hope you
get your B110 going soon.

Hey Rain Master Jr.
I have a grill in my basement. It's baan there for a few years now. I will check on shipping costs. It is a plastic coupe grill. Let me know if you want it. I will look
at again for imperfections.

Hey radat, Check out PAECO In Birmingham, Alabama, USA. I think they have the SU setup for the A-series engines. I will get back to you with their web address unless someone can come
up with it sooner.
I had a 1200 sedan from 1971 until 1989 that was an excellent driver. I miss it more that any car that I have ever owned. It got named Mareo Speedwagon. I have only seen about fifteen
sedans ever. There were numerously more coupes.

Are you wanting a stock air breather for the 1200? I think I have one of
them laying around.

No, I do not have the SU set-up, I put a Holly carb on mine and I still have the stock A12 intake breather assembly lying around. There are virtually no 1200s left in this area. I
only know of one other and it is used in racing. I haven't seen another 1200 at all in front of my eyes since I bought the one I have now in 1991. Thanx

I used an A14 block, pistons, and rods with the A12 crank. I had to shave the deck on the A14 block. If you use the A12 block and A14 rods and postons, the piston would stick out of
the top. Using the 1200 crank in the 1400 block, the piston will not travel all of the way to the top of the bore. it will lack .170 inch. Hope you have this straight now. good luck.

Even if you bore an A12 motor to fit an A14 piston, The wristpin hole is in the wrong place. I used an A14 block and installed the A12 crank. I had to use the A14 rods. The A14 block has a
12-mm higher deck height. I had to cut the top of the block .170" down to the top of the piston. I was worried about the block deck being too thin but that little turbo motor worked well
and it was a screamer at 9,000 rpms. It sounded like an Indy car. I got about 60,000 miles on it without any major mishaps. The rocker arm bolts stripped and I had to heli-coil them but no
other major problems. I like the big bore/short stroke combination. All of my valve train was from PAECO in Birmingham, Alabama. I am not sure if they are online or not. I will check and
post the results.
