I had the same hassle initially and it turned out to be nothing but a batch of bad fuel... I did nothing and it all came good... If anything, I'd perhaps take the main fuel jet up to 125 ish... but that's a guess...

How's this for something from left field ??? Mine was a case of a bad batch of fuel... I filled the tank over the w/end and almost instantly everything was fine.... Something for future thought...
But I'll still do the usual checks !

Hi Guys...
I realise that the Heading for this post may appear a little ambiguous, but I've read the countless number of posts from people asking what are the best jet sizes to use in a DGV fitted to an A series.
Now I am the FIRST to admit that factors vary between individual engines and that no two motors are EXACTLY the same, but I figure that posting these sizes will at least be a step in the right direction (If one person is helped out by this post then hasn't it done it's job?).
I've just had the carb rejetted and dyno'ed. These new jet settings are on my standard A12 and I've been informed they will also work fine on my 40 thou O/bore A14 currently being built (with std cam). Such is the versatility of the DGV I guess...
Anyway, I hope this helps some people out:
Primary mentioned first, then Sec...
Air Correction: 175/145 Fuel: 120/145 Emulsion Tube: F66/F66 Choke Tube: 3.5/4.5 Idle: 50/55
Have Fun Guys...
Anton.

I'm currently getting almost the same hassle with my 120Y. I've pulled the DGV weber off and made sure it was clean (which it was) and all plugs, points, etc are spot on. I'm now looking at spark as well, but I'm also wondering if it could be the vacuum advance unit ?

My 78 120Y has an internal Reg so yes, they are available.... it also depends on what electrical accessories you want to include... big stereo, driving lights, etc

Hi Everyone...
I'm wondering if it is still possible to get brand new replacement panels for 120Y's (either from Nissan or an aftermarket crew) or am I going to be subjected to a Wrecker hunt ?
Thanks.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to confirm the gauge is definitely the culprit.
Turn on the ignition to the "ON" position, take the wire off the temp sender unit on the engine and connect it directly to the negative terminal. In a perfect world, the gauge should shoot straight to the top as if it overheated in a second. That will help identify the problem...if it still only goes to just above the cold mark, then it is a physical issue. If it DOES go straight through to the top of the gauge, then it isn't the gauge.
Good Luck
