Would be good to know of someone in Perth who has done the CA swap... If there's anyone else out there in WA that's done the conversion to a CA18, can they please reply to this ?

The Escorts (and Cortinas) came with the water choke, hence Team's original question. the 120Y's in Australia never came out with an auto choke, it was always manual (although I'll stand corrected on that one).

Consequently, when we replace the Hitachi with a Weber, we have to decide to go with either retaining the manual setup or modify to suit the water choke. Being as most Escort/ Cortina Webers had the water choke, it comes down to trying to locate a manual choke assembly. Not the easiest task... but if anyone has one lying around...

the "Clutch" is the actual indash switch that turns on the aircon...
when the aircon is off, the pulley just free wheels...
when on, the compressor is driven...

My Factory 120Y logbook shows integrated Aircon... where would I start to find one of THOSE units ?

Being as it is for a 120Y and given they all came out with manual chokes in Australia, I can see Team's wanting to keep it OEM. I'm a little that way as well... any ideas on scrounging a manual one anyone ?

The simplest way to tap into the cooling system would be to tap into the heater hose that runs directly under the carby. Probably brass reticulation fittings would work best.

But If anyone out there can help with manual chokes, let me know too !!

I fitted some new moulded carpets to my 120Y a couple of weeks ago and the best advice I can give is Take your time, think before you cut and everything will be fine. I've used this stuff on about 5 cars now and every time it has come out fine. The only times I've had hassles is when I tried to cut corners.

Also, use underlay as well. The difference in road noise and 'feel' of the carpet is amazing !

Good Luck
