on Matto1kUte's 1980 1200 ute the lower control arms bolt on to the Stanza struts, no - probs. its the early 1200 you need to swap the lower control arms. I have reciently fitted 200B struts with girlock calipers, and i had a set of caster rods modified to make them adjustable. Im giving these a go with rodeo 4 piston calpiers as my next upgrade with the CA18T (bolt on upgrade on 200B struts). i have seen 120Y and sunny calipers smoke heaps (hot) on worked engines when given a bit of a hard time. All depends on the car and engine. any discs are always better than drums.

Lots fit and there are some nice upgrades around. Stanza are the most popular. they have the thick strut with all the a series gear like spring, control arm, caster rod etc. its pretty much a swap over. With The 1980+ model Stanza's they have bigger calipers (import model)this is they way to go. 120Y fit but the calipers are heaps small, Sunny too. Other nice upgrades are to use 180 or 200B these fit some GM calipers (like VL Turbo) and heaps more. Read up on the 1200 mods section it will tell you heaps about struts. Good luck in your upgrade.

Hello 1200 Ute fella's,(Welcome) i also have a 1200 ute 1980 model thats being painted in two weeks.(can't wait) Its my first ute also and im building an A14 turbo. (for that little extra pep) but webbers and engine work goes very well too. With the seats you can use almost any that you like just use the 1200 rails to bolt them back in. One thing is keep in mind your limited for room. Some datto boys here have used all sorts of seats. i've fitted early supra seats in mine. I have a spare A14 up for grabs It comes with an oval port head (long motor)PM me if your interested.

Its to big if your running a CA or SR, but with the good old A series there is room to spare. The guy i got it off rally's Datto's and he said the support on the back that bolts to the flywall needs to be shortened slightly to allow clearence of the strut tower.

Ive seen a Ute with the back extended also running 2 x Subs. Between the seats there is a polished amp and the doors fitted with splits and tweeders. it looked neat and tidy with great sound quality. I am looking into a custom console that comes up between the two seats (for an arm rest) and mounting some speakers on the two sides + doors.
