hey guys hit a snag in my l 18 rebuild and was hopping someone may help. i broke a bolt on the rear main bearing when i torqued it down to measure the journal. all of the suppliers i have asked tell me that they are unable to get l 18 main or head bolts and can't tell me if the l 16 or l20 bolts are the same. has anybody else had this problem or can someone tell me if these parts are interchangable. from memory the main bolt thread patern is m10 X 1.75 x 75 long.

edit:- may be 70mm long

take the struts down to your local engineering shop they will spin a couple up for you. It could cost a bit to have some made, alternatively they should be able to tell you the thread form so you can hassle any industrial bolt suplier.

thnks for posting that pic saved me the trouble. If this is the norm how should i go about flowing them up a bit? i am not building anything extreme i was just going to smoothe out the bends a bit. I have lightened the flywheel and knife edged the crank in the hope of a few more rpm. i will probably get the standard cam reground, and have a pair of su's and flat top pistons. can any body tell me if there is any need to even out the exhaust ports.
