The problem with cutting and grinding down though, is that what strength a nice weld added is lost when it is ground down thinner to look flush.

To keep the structural integrity of the chassis, I would cut the rust out, and sleeve the chassis rails top and bottom.

I'm a systems engineer/administrator for Computer Sciences Corporation onsite at Alcoa of Australia (9 years).

Currently doing certificate 2 in engineering to become a boilermaker (for my own benefit!)

I'm not really qualified for anything, but I seem to get jobs pretty easily by tricking people into thinking they 'need' me!

...but lets settle the great debate once and for all and whenever this comes up again we can just point people to this thread....

What is the great debate, actually?

It seems whenever there is a thread a on Rotaries, your replies are always negative. Sure, it's your opinion, but most threads are more to do with technical help on how one can get a rota in a car, not why you think they are ####.

It seems strange to me that so many people are against rotaries in 1200's, yet whenever there is a thread on them, the amount of views they get is phenomenal.

Sure, I could say CA18's are crap, as I've never owned a car powered by one, but who wants to hear that anyway?

I know it's not a Datto, but here's a Hilux I'm doing at the moment...

It's a bit of work, but worth it in the end

####InG rotarys!!! they are more trouble than they are worth. Too may rotar heads a cunty ####ErS.

Even though I am one of these "cunty ####ErS", I'll try to help out anyway.

IF you don't get any joy from the guy you bought it off, give Interbrown Rotary Performance a call on (03) 59401021, this guy is in Pakenham.

My brother has had exchange engines from this guy in the past. He builds them strong and cheap and the warranty is really good. He knows his stuff.

Tell him your situation and he should be able to help you out. If it's only a water seal (as was with my brothers last 13b) you should be able to exhange it for quite a minimal sum, as the housings and rotors will most likely be fine in your engine.

Cheers.

Go to Ausrotary.com.au and check in the car trader section.

There's a guy selling a Sunny set up for a rotary in there. You just need an engine, and he doesn't want too much for it either.

Yep, clock worked fine when removed.

I'm not sure if I have the bracket, I would have to check.

If not, it's only a bit of bent metal with two speed nuts on it.

I couldn't tell you what year the cars were that they came out of, but they are both from 1200 coupes.

I would imagine shipping to the Us would be a litle expensive, but I can certainly do it if you are keen.

Cheers.
