Buy one that has already been built. Building a car from stock cost an absolute fortune, let me tell you! As my old man said to me "Buy the most expensive house and the cheapest car." Okay a car that someone else has bilt is not your own, but it will save you a lot in the long run. U can buy an already converted CA18DET ute for about 9k if you look around, saves paying around 10k just for the conversion work.
All the best, Cheers, Stu

I will be coming to townsville at some stage. My brother lives there and I do want to visit him. I do promise I will post a photo of my ute once the new wheels and suspension are on. I'm also going to post a photo of the Engine when it's complete in about two weeks, it should look sweet. Melbourne to Cairns is approximately 3,450km's, well that's what I got off another website.

Nispares have a listing for new glass under the Auto Glass section on their website. Try them they are very good. As for the aluminium guards I think your going to have to make something up. Mine were shocking so I chucked them and haven't been able to find a replacement. But then again I was always thinking that I was going to fabricate something to fit. Cheers, Stu.

Yeah, I think that quote is good. The investigations I've done have revealed prices a lot higher than that.
Cheers, Stu.

I'm taking my ute and all my parts with me. I'm getting them transported up in about 3 weeks time. I'm flying up this Saturday, 16th of October. I've had a chat to Widow Maker Performance in Caloundra and he can do the airbags and other stuff that I want too. That should be happening about February if all goes to plan. No cold air is a bummer. Especially running a supercharger. At least I've got a 2L Supercharger bolted on to the 350 Holley, so she doesn't run as hot as others. Still I'm going to invest in a better cooling system just to be sure. Cheers, Stu.

I've quit my job yesterday and am leaving Canberra. I have got another job in the town of Kuranda, QLD, about 15km's North West of Cairns Australia. This means that I will have to put on hold my Airbags for a couple of months until I recouperate the funds I've had to inject into the Moving process. Still, I'm happy to be moving and enjoying the tropical lifestyle. I'll still be knocking around the website though, so I'll keep you all posted as to how my project is coming along. Cheers, Stu.

G'day mate, I had exactly the same problem. It was caused by dirt all stacked up in the Carby. That's why the last owner gave it a temporary fix with a new filter. It doesn't sound like it could be the problem, but if you pull your carby apart you will probably find that there is a build up of gunk all caused by dirty fuel. I had to drive home 3 hours with this problem once, boy was I tired and angry when I got home. Cheers, Stu.

Go to "Nuts, Bolts & Screws". They are located at 12 Sanford St Mitchell. Call 6262 2999. They should have what you need or you could try CBC Bearings which used to be Belconnen Metal Centre. They stock all sorts of High Tensile bolts too. CBC are located at 4 Park st in Belconnen. Don't try to use anything but High Tensile, well I wouldn't. They are not cheap though, probably about $6 a bolt so be prepared.
