Yeah, best wishes to all. Drive safe and enjoy the Xmas holidays. I look forward to discussing and driving Datsun's with you all next year.

cheers,

Mate, good to see another datto driver around Canberra. I'd like to see some of that conversion and the finished product. I only work down the road from you at Campbell Park, so I should see you driving your weapon hard and sideways pretty much everyday. When do you think you will have the work complete?

cheers,

When choosing a colour, I'd think of what wheels have been chosen for the car. You want a colour that is going to really make your wheels stand out. Something like the Nismo-Blue would be perfect if you had highly polished or chrome rims.

This is a link to the Add. I've seen this car moving sideways around the streets of Canberra. Pretty nice indeed.

These guys have Datsun 1200 Bonnets and other new parts listed. Give them an e-mail or phone call and they hopefully can get one for you.

I'd be a bit cautious because it sounds like the owner just wants to get rid of the thing. Anything you buy in the trading post for under or around $3K will have rust in it anyway. So if you add the new panels and paint to less than that you'd be on a winner. Also, the tray can be replaced with alloy as I've done which cuts some of the rust and weight problems down. Plus being only rivited in you can easily take it off to have easy access to the Diff etc.

I'm going nearly the same way with my ute but have decided on the 13B Turbo instead. I've made inquiries and since I'm in the ACT pretty much anything is legal as long as you have an engineers certificate. Cost wise if you just hand over the car and get it back you could be looking at about approximately 15K. However, doing most of the work yourself you should have everything done for about 8k. You should be able to pick up a 12a and box for about 2k and the tailshaft you'll have to get shortened but that's only about $500. I'd recommend doing the diff at the same time as it will cost extra in the long run doing it separately plus you won't have the problem of changing your stud pattern for the wheels if you go with a different maker. Excellent decision though as rotoraries are the best motors in Dato's for getting the power down as quick as possible.

I have a Datsun 1200 ute. I have approached many companies such as Hardcover Australia, New Gel, Car styling but cannot find anyone who will make a hardcover. Does anyone know of a company or individual that will take on such a job?
