Thank God...you're a racer. Sorry for the rant those guys drive me insane.
Go to the tech section on this web site there is an extensive post on the subject. I've considered the set-up but now that I run my 1200 in Vintage the injection part is a not legal. Welcome aboard , good luck with you're project and keep us posted.

When you say "street" race do you mean drag racing or those geeks who actually race on the street???
If it is so called street racing do yourself a favor and stay away from those guys , they can't drive and the car prep is questionable.
Your local drag strip should have test and tune nights where anybody can run or get yourself to a track day or local SCCA Autocross.
This Monday I was at an instructor seminar for track day instructors with a group of fellow racers. The folks putting on the event were from Russel racing schools and we all agreed that the absolutley worst guys to have to deal with are the testastarone fueled street racer. Also real racers , race on street courses not streets...Long Beach Monaco etc.
I know I haven't answer your question nor will most folks on this site if your aim is to go out to the street racer geek fest. Did I mention I hate "street" racing??

I would be one of those interested in a twin cam head for an A-series...for vintage I can run almost any cylinder head but have to use the A series engine.

er not to rain on your parade but....when I was running SCCA GT5 we pitted next to a GT4 210 competitor. Runnning the set up you speak of with webers vs injectors , they were getting 185 HP at the flywheel.
Unfortunatly if they did not rebuild the motor every 6 hours it would grenade....their motors were done by one of the best racing engine builders in the country. I'd forget the street use part especially given racing A14's are running 13/14-1 compression.

I have some buddies who are life long Corvette and Porsche owners and man do they have to put up with the posers.
I think half the reason I raced 125 GP bikes was to fly past posers on 750's and scare the death out of them.
My favorite 1200 memory is of a zooty boy Vette owner and his blonde girlfriend with afterparts showing up at a local Auto-X. They had that look when I unloaded the 1200 off the trailer...."look at that hunk of poo" of course at the end of the day when I was 5th overall and he was 38th they were just shaking there heads.
So be happy the posers gravitate toward Falcons and Commodores (sp).

Well I thought I would share a non 1200 owners view of our cars:
This past Saturday I was instructing at one of our local Las Vegas tracks with a group called the Racer Factory , a primarly VW Audi group. My students were two guys sharing an Audi awd supercharged A4.

In between beginer sessions I gave rides in my 1200.(My car is running an A12GX bottom end with H-production head, race valves and springs , Weber 32/36 - 85 HP or so. Suspension is 280ZX coil overs , control arms with ZX brakes. in the rear are Nismo springs and the traction bar set-up with an H145 LSD w/4.11 rear gear. )

Total I gave 5 people rides; First off they were amazed that a push rod engine would buzz to 7800 RPM's. All of them were also impressed with how well the car cornered...one student couldn't believe we were doggin a Lotus Elise mid corner. Ok so it was an intermedate driver behind the wheel of the Lotus , but hey I'm all for 1200 propaganda.
The best part of the day is when the organizer came up to me as I was loading up and said students told them "hey we went for a ride in that Scuderia Pokey Car , my 1200 , it's slow down the straights but man is it a lot of fun!!!" One of the guys was running a 400 HP twin turbo Z and he thought the car was a scream.
Also I told my two primary students about you guys in Australia and New Zealand running turbo twin cams..."that would be wicked fast" was all they had to say.
I posted this since we've all encountered the why would you own that snob , so it was nice to spend a day with people who appreciated what fun a 1200 can be.
