71 1200 coupe for sale. It hit a pole dead center in front , still drives. Both fenders doors and side trim are still good - it even has the original rubber trim pieces running the length of the car, Solid running A12 and 4 speed , good glass and Jelly bean mags . what it needs; radiator core support, hood , radius rods. I have front suspension parts and radiator for a few extra bucks. Also body parts could be beaten back out.Come get it before I'm tempted to part it out.Car is in Las Vegas.

Call day 702-260-3162 or eve 702-453-2699 or you can e-mail tgrossmann@sigmagame.com

There is nothing wrong with the hitachi carb , I even did the first couple of races with my 1200 with the stock Hitachi carb. You are not going to have a 100 HP motor with the carb but this is about as reasonable as trying to down a F-16 with a Piper Cub and a pistol.

Jon , I hope this helps. On my 1200 Road Race Car I use the whole 280ZX strut , control arms and radius rod. The crossmember is modified to accept the 280 control arms , all the rest bolts up. Keep in mind the strut itself is cut down and a coil over kit installed. Before this set-up we used cut down 240 springs and the rate seemed about right. If you plan to still use 13 inch rims (I have to) you will need to machine the back of the Caliper and possible use a wheel spacer so they will fit inside the rim.

For the 1200 Road race car I use Motul 30wt , for road or break I always used Castrol GTX. Now as far as the Penzoil goes I had heard of it clogging the motor but.... Last May I bought a 71 Volvo 142E from the original owner who used Penzoil , he rebuilt the motor at 190,000 miles and it has 275,000 and is still going stong so I'm skeptical about "brand" rumors. The synthetic oils are worth it for extreme conditions but for a daily driver they maybe over the top. As far as cost goes your talking about $750 extra for 150,000 miles - lets see a rebuild on an A series is about $300 max if you do it yourself. That's 2 1/2 rebuilds for the price of synthetic oil

I would advise against 205's unless you have a fairly stout motor in your 1200. I run 185/60 13's on my 1200 Vintage racer. The car never gets passed in the corners. It is putting out about 90 HP so I'm not likely to over power the rear wheels. Think of the wider tires as giant flywheels , every time you accelerate the motor has to get the extra mass moving. The wider tires also offer more rolling resistance which will further kill acceleration. You may actually gain a small amount of cornering speed but the car will also acclerate off the corner much slower. so it ends up a wash. Another thought is 205's on a 1500lb car may be dicey in the wet. There seems to be the misconception that big wide tires and ultra stiff suspension will make the car handle better when quite the contrary is the case. For road use I would stick with 185's , they will clear the fenders and the car will keep it's zippy feel that 1200's are known for.

Welcome aboard , you will find a wide variety of owner types here. Myself I vintage road race a 1200 that originaly was daily transport for a High School buddy. So naturally my interests are racing. You will find Rally drivers , road racers , drag racers and guys with twin cam turbo 1200's. Also folks with bone stock cars. Also this is an invaluable resource for parts hunting.

If you work on restoring a car a couple of hours every night 4-5 nights a week it usaully takes 2 or 3 years. If you love the car sit on it. I recently started cleaning up my 1200 becuase of a switch to Vinatge racing. It has been down for 6 months and all that was done was install all aluminim panels to the interior , change cylinder heads clean up the body work. The end of the month the car will get a respray and finally be re-done.
So be patient , you will likely own a 1200 in some form or other for the next ten years or more so what does it matter if the car is apart for a few years.

Wholy Cheet is right - that is sweet. I see the harness on the seat but didn't notice the cage , do you compete with the car. I had to ask because frankly all I use on my 1200 racer is a tach , water temp and oil pressure. I only check the guages about three times a lap so anything more seems to be overkill.

We ported the GX head on the 1200 I race with no problems but keep in mind we were more interested in cleaning up the flow rather than hogging em out.

A B210 used a 3.90 rear gear - also carefull asking questions as the B210 and 210 are differant cars although they use many of the same components. The earlier model B210's do not seem real happy with unleaded gasoline , the later A14's while down on power are even harder to kill then the 70's engines.
