hey peddler there does seem to be a gap in car types. What I noticed were the 7-8 Volvo 140's since I have one that is my daily driver plus we use it as course opening car for our event. Apparently these guys run to FIA specs and the rules are very strict. They can change shocks but that is about it. Driver of car 50 is picking up GX manifold from me so that must be an approved part. What I noticed is they had 153 cars. For the Rallysprint event I organize we get 18-20 drivers.Regional Rally is 35-50 cars , biggest Pro event in USA gets 80 cars. I live in the wrong country for Rally but as much as I love Rally I wouldn't do to well in icy cold Finland. The comment about two 1200's in one Rally was brought on by the fact that most people in USA do not even know what a 1200 is much less appreciate them.

Check out link to Historic Rally in Finland , check page 10 car #46 and page 11 car #50. What are the chances of two 1200 sedans at one Rally? Link was sent to me by driver of car# 50 Harri Peerla. Since I tend to be web dunce here is link in case I did this wrong - www.plopcrew.net/galleria/iisalmi2003/index.htm

The rules for Vintage are very liberal here in the US. VARA simply recuires the car be 72 or older on production cars. When you get into newer racing cars they allow them if they have some significant racing history.

I'll throw my $0.02 in : A12 with some sort of Twin Cam head and Fuel injection - Gearbox diffinetly sequential. My sports racer was motorcycle engine powered and sequentila box is much nicer , left foot brake and go up and down through the box without having to use clutch. Maybe adapt Honda Goldwing gear box to A12. Beam axle is fine but get rid of leaf spring rear end and go to 4 link.

Well here is the deal - I checked this car out 4 years ago and passed. Well aprently he still has it. Since I have an extra A12 plus 5 or 6 cylinder heads one of which is ported and a 4 speed lying around I figured I could upgrade the old 1200 in the Bluebird with a A12.
Vintage racers here are just geeting used to Japanese cars so I can get away with something that looks similar. Also they wouldn't be aware the car has dums so I could mount disk breaks. The suspension geomtry is also easy to change since my friend builds single seaters he could make the Bluebird work. Also we have a couple of Tarmac rallies on the schedule , My Navie is 6 5" so he doesn't fit in the 1200 to well , Bluebird is a little taller
Now if I were looking to build a street rod: I could find a wrecked Titan pick up tube the front clip mount that V8 then we could narrow the rear truck axle and tub the rear and presto - Datto version of the Anglia drag car. Lets see 2000Lb car with 300 HP and gobs of torque , this could be fun.

PS hey peddler I do have a bunch of stuff in the garage that I should be rid of ,why I have three extra dash boards is beyond me. It may be a bit of a drive from your house to come pick this stuff up.

I have a line on a 61 Datsun Blubird - I have so much 1200 stuff I was thinking about using 1200 motor tranny and rearend and turn the car into an obscure Vintage Racer - any thoughts.

I need drivers side door panel , black or both door panels same color. I'm putting most of the interior bits back in since I'm running Vintage but drivers door panel is missing.

If you are just wanting better brakes Wilwood makes a caliper called a Dyna-light these come in 2 and 4 pistion. US hot rodders use them because the will fit over 1/2 thick non-vented rotors price is $125 US.You would have to fab a carrier but that is easy as you will just need a flat plate.
