how do 1200's handle with a ca18 in them (asuming every thing else is set up). I would like to build a 1200 coupe for hill climbs and sprints maybe even improved production.

hi guys, i am going in my second hill climb on sunday, the last one i had traction issues especialy as i spent a bit of time with only one rear wheel on the ground.
just thought i'd ask if any one had any ideas of a good starting weight (to add some ballast to my ute). Also should i centralize the wieght above the diff or half on one side and half on the other? I know it will be a bit of trial and error but a starting point will be of great help.
i have softened up the rear shocks and stiffened up the front, still have the standard front sway bar though (to be upgraded). i hope this will help a bit?

drilling a wall with guttless hammer drill would be about right. It may not be that serious but i just thought it wierd that it would just sort of kick in at these revs, it seems to disappear after about 6200. the whole engine was balanced incuding the flywheel and clutch. after 1000 kms i had the engine tuned up on a dyno that cost me $350 so i don't want to start messing around with the timing. perhaps i am a bit paranoid. but its good to get these other ideas.

whats wrong with su's? they are cheap to buy new, heaps of needles to choose from, once their tuned properly don't go out of tune. spitfires used them during WW2 and they kicked the fuel injected messerschmitts arse's. I don't know of any planes that used webbers but correct me if i am wrong.

got to get it dyno'd to see the air fuel ratios then can see how if its running lean or rich. took it to the engine builder today anyway and he didn't seem to concerned. It seems to vibrate a bit less under full load. Might try to keep the revs down till dyno, let you know how i go.
