Yeah Mate, quite a few people on here have done it.
Just put CA18DET into the search box on the home page, then check out the discussions on the CA.
There were a few just recently, so they should answer most of your questions.

By the way "Welcome to the club"

ha ha. good luck!

I've just been through the same thing. I tried everyone of the so called big companies and everything was too hard for them.
Itried everyone from S.A, VIC, NSW, QLD

No one rang back - no one could give a freight cost - i couldnt put up with it anymore they all seem to be wan$#$%ers

I'll just build a tuff A series now.

Sorry for being negative but I had heaps of trouble with them.

If you're about to spend around $2500 you expect some service at least aphone call.

Dont buy their "lucky dip" engine, wiring,g/box packages. Just been through all that crap with a mate. NOT FUN.

It seems most of the businesses that advertise in the usual "OZ" four cylinder magazines need to be shown how to actually "COMPLETE" a transaction.

I'd hate to think what would happen if you had some type of problem under warranty, when not one of them can return a phone call to give a total cost - or how to pay them.

They just assume we are all dreamers. It's no wonder at all that business go broke around the country.

Hi all,
I wont name names but there are some companies out there that have yet to learn the art of customer service.(But claim everything in the advertisements!)

Can any one recommend or not recommend a good business to purchase an import motor (half/cut)from that deals interstate.

Much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep. I'll second that Dodgeman.

Manuals can be picked up so cheap on Ebay nearly all the time - there is NO excuse for not owning one if you intend to have a go at some jobs yourself.

Just remember : some jobs will require a decent qualified tradesman to complete, if you want the job done properly.
And not after you have already botched up the job...............................................it will mean more $$$$$$$$$$

I've seen the seats you mentioned, they look pretty good. I've also noticed a few utes in magazines etc with Sparco's (Fixed Back) & Cobra's.
I think the main concern is their width. I also thought that by having recliners I may be able to get the seats further back in the cab by reclining them forwards to match the angle of cabin.
Any thoughts??????????

As for hte Engineer's report - the main thing to ensure is that the correct mounting procedure is followed, mainly the correct grade bolts, correct size with necessary washers - plates etc.
Not sure about other states but you also have to keep the factory seatbelts installed - even if harnesses are fitted.

How have you ute guys mounted your harnesses by the way? Any Pics?
