the firing order is 1 - 3 - 4 - 2.

get the motor on TDC - and then look which plug lead the rotor is facing to. Then you will see which way it rotates and put your plug leads on from there.
If its pointing to number one cyl the rotor button should be facing in the oil filter direction - if not turn the motor over another 360 dgrees

Seems pretty good to me. They all seem close - it can depend on the quality of your compression guage also - screw in ones are definately better than the cheaper hold in ones. Should be good.

Finally got a new (faster computer guys)! So hopefully I will be able to input a bit more into the site.
I did have some old 286 something with 8MB ram, some old crappy modem 28.6 and Win95.
It used to take me about half an hour to post a thread or reply so sometimes I wouldn't bother.
Should be right now though!

Quick Question :
Why is it that some engine bay pics show the rubber strut insulator protruding through the top of the strut tower by a couple of inches (like mine) & some show the insulator fitting flush with the top of the tower?????

I presume it has something to do with different struts being fitted - which is which?

I have just been through the same repairs myself on my ute (B120) 85 model.
Just be carefull when purchasing because there are some differences listed in the part numbers and some parts that i got didnt fit but were supposed to.
The Ball joints that they listed were wrong (the spacing on the mounting holes was slighltly different)
Drag Link or Steering rod : Mine was a straight one as I suspect yours is as well. When the new one arrived it looked different. This one will not fit it needs to look exactly the same.
Tie rods no worries at all.
Having said that I have now fitted all the correct parts and it feels like a new ute.
Let us know how you go.

I bought some new front lower ball joints for my ute but they don't fit. All the parts books show this part number BJ92(or similar).
They are very close but the spacing on the mounting bolt holes is different.
Perhaps these are for a 120y or sedan. I have had the correct ones fitted now not sure what the part number was but now i'm stuck with 2 brand new ball joints with no idea what they do fit. They are the good ones made in Japan.
Can anyone help as to what the difference is and what they will fit. I will need to sell them as they cost $52.00 each!
Anyone need some.

I've got an A15 in my ute out of a vanette and have no trouble with any under bonnet clearance problems. The ute crossmember in its original form will allow an A15 to bolt up. I'm not sure about the box - I'm not sure what box I have in mine. I would imagine any A series boxes would all bolt straight up - but someone correct me if i'm wrong.
I'd love a five speed but can't find one.
Best of Luck
