Is sonic testing a common machine shop practice? What are we looking for in terms of results? At 78 or 79mm, what is the resulting displacement?

Thanks DD, What is the Bore Diameter of the A14 block and Piston? Also, how far out can the A14 be safely bored? Plus, will I need to pocket the pistons or the block? I suppose it depends on the cam and rocker ratio. What is the standard rocker ratio?

What is the hot piston for a modified A14 street, canyon motor? Doesn't have to be a factory piston, I'm perfectly happy to spend a little more if an aftermarket piston will outperform. I'm building a replacement for my tired A14. I'm using an H89 head and I'm aiming for 10 to 10.5:1 Compression ratio. Any thoughts?

Matty, You must be cornering like crazy! I'm running poly bushes, the larger 20mm sway bar, 175pound springs, Koni yellow adjustables, 1 degree negative camber, and the Toyo R888's 225/45- 13. It's also lowered 3.5 inches over factory height. According to the accelerometer my friend was using, it is pulling just under 1G on the skid pad(.96) and the wear is pretty even.

Matty, 6 degrees negative camber?! Do the outside of your tires ever touch the ground? What are you using for bushings and tires? With urethane or spherical bearings and a decent track tire, I wouldn't think you'd get enough flex in the front suspension or body roll to warrant that much camber... Most of the 510 race guys run between 1.5 to 3 degrees negative, and that car's a good 400 lbs. heavier.Even the famous BRE 510 ran 1.5 degrees negative at all 4 corners. Given though, that they ran on Bias full race Goodyears, but still...

Yokohama makes a 175/50-13, and Toyo makes a 225/45 -13. However, both are excellent sticky tires which doesn't sound like what you're looking for.....
