What sort of fuel and ignition system are you using?

torque usually comes in at lower rpm than the hp peak, so increasing one tends to decrease the other. ( HP is a artificial number calculated based on the torque )

Here i m using Shell V-Power, should be 97RON i think. ignition is electronic distributor, with original ignition coil.

i think A15 torque band is more toward low end, and the "efficiency" is not high as well. so i think increasing compression ratio would have help in raising torque and widen torque band, thus increasing hp all round.

porting is to increase high end HP. two of these combine together for drivability and fun

i m from Malaysia, the A15 is from and C20 i think.

now my friend told me that you can only port 0.25mm for intake, is it true? i also found another thread about one of member porting his H95 head ended up poking big hole in the intake port, too close to water passage.

http://datsun1200.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=22017&forum=1#112453

i am planning to port from 29X36 to 31X38, is it safe? i think 1mm for each side is very minimal only, i can only remove the rough cast aluminum ssurface.

H89 head

my aim is to get higher torque, and also high hp in high rev. so i am considering raising compression ratio a bit. maybe 10:1, that normal fuel burn without knocking.

i measure intake port is 29X36mm, exhaust is 29X30mm, i m planng to port to 31X38 and 31X32

i think you need to calculate carefully if you want to change flat top piston. if you have skimmed cylinder head before, better not changing flat tops.

i found i this web site saying that milling off block and piston together will increase compression ratio at lower cost than custom making piston. in Malaysia i think it is not cheap to custom make this thing...

cutting valve guide seems risky. do you have extra head?

hicam? custom make also?

now i am planning to port n polish intake n exhaust, most probably about enlarging 2mm in diameter, but i heard that it will hit the water jacket, is it true? but i saw Tomei selling gasket for 34X44mm intake port, that means we can port this much? i try to search on this website but seems that no relevant information inside...

second is milling head, how much i can skim? 1mm will help performance or not?

thx.

here are some pictures of the setup. the tyres will hit the fender even with -3 degree of camber. the rims are 14X6j offset+15, which is not too deep. but with the extra 5cm long lower control arms, it looks good!

However, i can feel that it lose some original fun as the parts are not original. but i like the way in corners. the spring are 6kgf/mm, which are about more than 300pound/inch. next plan is changing it to 200pound

thx both my friends for the information.
today i found new solution from my friend. he said use AE86's tie rod ends, and machine it to fit original 120Y tie rod ends.
i will give more information after i successfully modifying it.
cheers.

Hi ddgonzal,

My B310 was A12 model, the disc is measured at about 210mm. A14 hub is not same with A12 right? my friend found this few days ago.

i did consider to modify the S13 original absorber to smaller spring that i can remain more comfort. But seemed that nobody wanted to do this for me. they said it is risky. now my ride is really bouncy when i drive on uneven road.

now my problems is the tie ends. i saw people has done conversion such as from 280zx into 1200 right? how do they modify the tie ends?

thx.

hey friends i m from Malaysia, hope to share something with you.

recently i have swapped the original strut set to S13 strut set. these are several things have to be done:
1. coilover. as the original S13 spring is too large in diameter, i have to use coilover.
2. S13 knuckle and disc brake.
3. S13 lower arm. the castor rod mounting is not same with sunny's, so i have to drill new ones. this job is hard to me as i have no experience in drilling. the bushings is also too large, so i found some bushings that fill up the gap between bushings and the bolt.
4. Brake hose is also S13.
5. Sway bar mounting also not same, but i just simply plug on the nearest hole, wondering any negative effect?
6. Tie ends are still in progress to find out. the sunny tie ends are too small to fit in S13 knuckle arm, therefore some free play occur. if i tighten it too much, steering feels heavy. now i want to try the combination of B310's and S13's tie ends, when can be easily combined or must be engineered.

since the 1200 and 120y share the same mounting, i think it will be a good choice for strut conversion. hope can help you.
