TJ,
welcome to the site. I think there are at least 2 other members on this site in vegas.
You may be able to do a members search and find them that way.
Go the Coupe.

Say Dodgeman, could I borrow that dunce cap from you. Looks like I need to go sit in the corner for a spell. After that I need to go look at my set up but I do have one question. The tube at the back of my block does not have the extra vaccum fitting coming off of it, what to do?

Edit: I think I just hijacked my first thread

Datsunitis,
OK, looked at my car last night. Forgot there were two panels back there (age and crown royal are probably contributing factors). The one closest to the front of the car is access for the fuel sending unit and the on closest to the rear is the vent to the evapo unit. The vaccum valve in the engine bay is emission related. As Tommo said there should be vaccum lines attached to both of the forward pointing ports. On my car they are hooked into nipples on the right side of the brake master cylinder below the resevoirs. The other line I assume goes back to the evapo unit. Couldn't tell you how that works but that is the way my car is set up.
BTW...the bath tub stoppers for cylinder caps is brilliant. I've been wondering what to do about that as OEM caps are no longer available. Do they fit tight enough?

the two panels on top of your tank statement throws a wrench into things. In the passenger side rear about a foot in front of the rear body panel of the trunk there is a plate that is held in by 5 or 6 screws, that is the cover (paneL) that goes over the fuel guage sending unit. Where is the other panel located (1) and is your tank still in the car? (2) was this car sitting for a while before you scored it? (3) Is there a evaporator tank in the passenger side of ther trunk area...it could be seen by pulling back the plastic trim in the trunk area (if you are lucky enough to have that on your car)4 and can you post a pic of the fuel vapor thing on the firewall that has been bypassed? I have tried to look that part up and can't find it.
I ask all of that to try and put a little more info out there and to see if you have a crank or evapo type system and that may make some ideas pop out in someones head.

As to the question about did the car sit for a while before you got it...maybe the gas tank needs to be cleaned out, had mine done by a radiator shop.

OK, I'm done rambling for now and asking silly questions that may or may not get us anywhere ....but we can hope.

I am currently trying to aquire another coupe, and may end up with an extra door.
However, I have been trying to aquire said coupe for about a month( the guy is emotionally attached to the car...aren't we all). The extra door I would end up with is not in the best of condition but I will keep you in mind should I end up with a spare.

And a gas cap is still available from your Nissan dealer
17251-U7402 $29.17
or an after market one just make sure it si vented.
If they don't have a listing for a 1200, have them check for a 280Z, 1977 and up but not a ZX as they were threaded.

my 2 cents worth.

Hey Dodgeman, no worries. We all know your still one of the smartest eggs in this basket

Scotty,
Nissan did add voltage regulators to the instrument clusters in the 80's. Usually located on the back side of the speedo or tach. About 1inch square.
Somewhere in the mass amount info on this site i think there is a pic of one and I think the title is something like :can anyone tell me what this is?"
I know that wasn't much help but its what I got.

Javier,
Welcome to the site. Looks like you didn't do too bad at all. Looks like a fairly clean little ride. I would have given 1500 for it too.
