yeah, my old ute had an A12, then A15 in it and they were much smoother. But one thing I didn't really think about was that it has recently had a 32/36 weber put on it and it hasn't been tuned. I imagine that when it is tuned up correctly that it will run a whole lot more smoothly.

I haven't actually been for a drive in it yet, I saw it on Sunday last week and he was fighting a bad hangover in the garden while I had a look.

But it was vibrating at idle, enough that when I looked at the engine and tried to look at a particular part or word on the block i was getting a bad headache!

Heya all,
A friend of mine has recently purchased a gun metal 1600 powered by an L18. When the car is running. the whole car vibrates due to the engine vibrating on the mounts. Soes anyone know if you can get some hardened mounts to possibly reduce the vibration, or have a fix for this kind of problem?

thanks

The press studs dont rust cause they are treated. I''v ehad two utes with press studs ands the worst thing to happen was one of them broke. and even if they did rust, they are put in with pop rivets so they can be drilled out with no trouble.

There are very few hooks on the lip to fasten to, it flaps around and is quite noisey.

ddgonzal, sorry should have pointed that out. The second number is a second reading. I didn't take a reading with oil in the cylinder.

Heya all,
I did a compression test on my Ca last night with the following results.... (all in psi)
Cylinder 1. 145 150
Cylinder 2. 140 145
Cylinder 3. 150 150
Cylinder 4. 90 90

The CA's are 172 from the shop and can be as low as 142 with an allowable difference of 14. Time to do some work/investigating!!

1. The size of the engine should not matter in relation to the damage a turbo may cause, any existing engine wear will be your issue.

2. Yes it will make a difference in performance. It is difficult to say how much, but it will.

3. If you increase the amount of air in the cylinders, you need more fuel to ensure that it doesn't run lean, so yeah it will go through more gas if you give it heaps, but otherwise it is generally quite effiicient.

4. A small turbo will work best. A small garrett gt25 or t25, something smaller even... have a search on the net.

5. A new exhasut manifold to accomodate the turbo, the piping for the intercooler, piping for the carby, maybe a new fuel pump. A bigger radiator may be needed if your current one is quite small.

6. An intercooler (small one) - not needed but will help performance.

7. The diff and gbox should handle a little extra power, but don't be surprised if they do die. Any amount of extra power may push or accentuate a problem that you can't feel or see at this point in time.

Someone on this site has recently done a twin turbo A15, do a search on the left and have a look.

Mine sits back as well cause I'm using the CA box as well. It feels a little weird at first but once you have been for a couple laps around the block, it is actually quite good, because you dont have to fight when reaching forward because you are being pushed backward into your seat.
