For a stock SR20 they are fine, in fact up to about 300kw they are ok, after 300kw they fall apart fast, I have loads of them in the scrap metal pile, most common problem is they shear all the teeth of 3rd, bend layshafts, split casings, snap input shafts, snap output shafts ectr... whole box pretty much becomes rubbish over 300kw (and thats on street tires not slicks)

RB box on the SR20 motor is the way to go if you want good reliability.

You dont need any other mods to run a DCOE40, even Twin DCOE40's it just means that without the minimum of a small cam and header&exhaust you really wont get the benefit of the 40's though it will make a loverly difference...

As far as drivability, a properly setup DCOE40 is perfectly smooth and easy to use, I run Dual race prepped DCOE40's on my A15 and I think its even nicer to use than it was with the stock carb, I also get 15-17km/L when driving it normaly, driving it hard I get 11-12km/L which isnt bad at all when you consider its over 120hp!

I am running a functioning thermostat, OE replacment which is 165degF/74c for our climate. 25.3mm opening. I use the car as a daily run about and at the track so I prefer to run a thermostat.

The reason I was worrying is that I push a tiny bit of coolant out between races, I was running a 1.1bar cap but it was a crappy cap, I have now upgraded to a Nismo 1.3kg cap but havent been able to test it out as I am busy building the motor to make another few KW's. The CA18 radiator is pretty large so I would presume that it would be just fine for a fairly hard core A15.

I went to Nissan after work yesterday to confirm pricing and try my 2c at getting it a little cheaper, guy behind the counter said there is no stock and more than likely will take 4-6 weeks to get more stock.

Passed by the auto store and got the $60 pump, made by KOK in Japan, it looks identical to the factory pump, would not surprise me if they were the supplier for Nissan, that or they baught the tooling from them because the casting lines are identical... to make me sleep a little easier it has the "made in japan" cast on it.

Now its just to make the added section onto the oil pan for 1L more oil!

Rallytwit, Do you know what pump design your using? there are a few different impeller designs available,

I must actualy get around to putting my oil temp and water temp gauges in,

Its only after 4-5 laps of our 2 mile track (quite complex track) do I notice my coolant temps climing to half gauge, Probably also time for me to get my oil cooler in there to help stabilize the temps a bit.

One of the reasons I hate supporting Nissan, (even though I own two) Pity their business ethics arnt what they were 10-15 years ago. Would never buy a newer Nissan.

In fact thinking about it I would rather buy a good knock off than support Nissan... Just spoke to a contact at Roselyn, those pumps cost nissan $13... their retail is $231au
