Yeah, good idea, im already using the pretty small A12 pully on it,
The reason I ask is that I run a CA18DET radiator on my my A15 and around town even if its seriously hot (35c) its fine, sitting at 4000rpm on the highway its fine, but if I drop a gear from 5th to 4th and hold it at 5000rpm (obviously now with reduced load but higher RPM) it heats up from 1/4 temp gauge to about 1/3 (the only time it ever raises it at higher RPM and its not load dependant), when i am at the track she goes up to about 1/2 way on the gauge... Sounds like a bit of cavitation/restriction with the pump spinning much faster than normal.

Ditto, but Nissan dont sell a reco kit here, I have landed up running a cheapie in my A15 because i had to machine it down slightly to clear the crank, works fine but for this A14 in doing reving much higher than the A15 I would rather be a bit safer.
Have found a *ferloin*? pump at one of the more reputable parts places here for $60 odd, wonder if its any good, pity i cant google it because I dont know how to spell it right! epic fail

I am busy working on a new motor to rev nice and high (8500rpm)
Just wondering if you guys do anything to the waterpumps on your higher reving A-series motors? I know loads of motors (sr20 and RB as well) have cavitation problems at high rpm so they actualy slow the pump down a touch in setups where it will have the hell rev'd out of it,
Just wondering if there is a "done thing" to do to water pumps in the might A series

Guys,
Just finnished off a motor but im sitting with a bit of a delema,
Nissan want $200+ for an OE oil pump Aftermarket is $20-30
Nature says go OE on a critical part like an Oil pump but $200 and a 10 day wait is a bit heavy!
Has anyone ever had problems with aftermarket oil pumps (A-series results not other brands)? are there GOOD aftermarket pumps available?

Thanks!! very close cam to mine, it doesnt by chance say what the cold clearance is does it? also the seat pressure?
I took motor apart today, nothing major just some contamination damage on NO:4 due to pathetic air filters (next on the list)
What I did find is they didnt use the supplier GX spring washers/seat, they used regular flat round washers like the A-15 had stock... will put a post in the forsale/wanted section, inner spring must have had near no tension.

if its between the 2 rings its usualy ring bind (if the car is tuned right and not getting ring flutter from detonation),,, you use a ring file and gap them to a suitable gap per your requirements
