Clicky for the add...

The add is in the car parts and accessories section so doesn't come up if you click on the cars section...

Good luck with the sell mate...

I'm not sure of the fines involved in driving an illigal car, though if you think about it, cops are targeting these types of cars, one defect and your car is off the road for good because you cant get it engineered without major structural work and sh!tloads of $$.

The other way to look at it is that you cant get any insurance. If you insured it with a different engine than the one in the car any insurance will be void IF you have an accident. Say someone hits you, the cops come, then you get a fine, defected and no insurance because your car was illegal anyways. If you were at fault and it was a serious accident you could be paying it off for the rest of your life.

EDIT: Dont know about you all down in Victoria, but in the last year in NSW I have noticed there is more cops on the road that ever before, do it LEGALLY and SAFELY, not just for your benefit, but for others as well...

Welcome, it is almost impossible to get anything other than a 12a engineered into a datto, and then you cant go forced induction. There are a few exceptions to this like the Maddat ute with the sr20det for example. Im not sure how they got around the rules but rotors just seem totally unacceptable.

Like andy said, if a new turbo engine is what your after, go the ca18det, maddat make all the bits to convert it with ease. If its the light weight your after maybe consider working and a15, you wont get the power of the ca but there a sh!tload lighter so drivability increases...

Tyire, yeah I knew that it was a little less than 1200 but couldnt be bothered to find it... lol.

And that makes perfect sense, its a structural component so must be the right bit, or a custom part.

either way, it shouldn't cost you to much andy, especially because you got that coupe for a steel anyways...

Your maths is almost correct, 1200x1.15=1380, so 1400 is just over the 15%, though I couldn't say if they will let is threw because its so close and still an a series, best bet is to call RTA Technical Enquiries on 1300 137 302 and talk to them before going for the blue slip.

If you have to go to an engineer he will check that the car complies with the relevant ADR's and as long as its generally stock he should have no problem in signing it of.

I'm not sure what Tyrie has been told about the cross member, though cant understand why this would be any indication of it passing as its just a structural part and would just have to meet the structural requirements (that is just my assumptions and could be wrong).
