It's always a hard job taking a car back to bear metal buy hand. I did my ute that way to. If I was to do it again I would send it off to be blasted. But I think starting at bear metal is the best way to go. Just got my ute repaired and in under coat now just need a good day to paint. Good luck with your build will keep an eye on it. Its always nice to see car finished after all that hard work has been put in to it.
Have been on here for some time now and have brought a few parts from the members. So I thought I would post up some pick of my build. Have been working on it for about 6 months now and it just about ready to paint. The first pic's are when I got it smashed have got heaps of pic's wont load them all. Sorry if there is to many.
Cutting the panels off and fixing the smashed back.
New panels on and hardlid fitted.
Have fitted a rust repair section from a HQ ute behind the back window because the guy that had the ute had cut two big holes in the old one for subs and some new wheel tubs.
Just wanted to know if there is any were you can buy new scuff plates for the inside the doors on tops of the sills. Because I was going to make some up if you cant buy new ones and see if any one else would want them.
Have got a passenger door here will have to dig it out on the weekend to see if its any good will let you know. You can get a windscreen new from O'Brien glass.

You have got no hope in hell of get one out of S/S here in oz for that price. As I am a S/S welder by trade no one would make that manifold up out of S/S for that price. You should not bag the price of some ones work that is trying to help out other people. If you can get them for the price you say you can then put them up so other people can get the same deal as you.
Sorry I took so long to get back to you but I had to go to my mates place to see if it was any good. Well when you buy a rust bucket that what you get and sorry to say it's stuffed. Don't know how much work you want to do but I can tell you that the back rust repair section from HQ to HZ Holden ute fits up very good have put one in my 1200 ute and it also gives you a bit more room behind the seat and help fit a hardlid if you want to put one on. Let me know if you want to see some pic's of one done and I will try and post some up.
