LOL! Only the finest people in the world who congregate here at 1200.com! I'll let you know on the fenders if my can't be de-wrinkled. I think I have the only hot rod A12 painted in factory Datsun engine colours.
Tom: "Disposed of" as in "left it in a Pep Boys parking lot at 3am?" Or, (more likely) thinned the herd a bit and sold off part of the Scuderia Pokey empire? I could use the front fenders if disposal is in it's future again... Cheers, Stan
Interesting shot of the engine bay - it's a LHD car, but the brake M.C. is on the right side of the engine compartment, as a RHD vehicle would have. Also looks like the long runner intake prohibits use of intake trumpets.
Man, it's raining 1200 racecars out here! Excellent starting point for a killer autocrosser or taking it to the next level as a vintage road racer. Outstanding bargain, if it's not been wadded up or rusted out!
Holy c**p! Yet ANOTHER Datsun 1200 racer from Peter Z's seemingly endless collection of 1200 cars & parts! This one looks rode hard and put away wet, dinged and patched, with welds the size of my fist, but it has all the right bits to get started on a decent vintage racing project, especially if Peter can supply the correct steel panels for the body. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Datsun ... hash=item19b87da7c3#v4-34
Rust in the lower fenders is pretty much a given, even in a California car, as are rusted-out cowl plenums due to leaves clogging up the cowl drains and letting water pool in the cowl plenum. What is unusual about this 1200 is the nice condition of the floorpans - I passed on a 25 year garage stored 1200 a few weeks back since the floor pans were so badly gone that they looked like a Flintstones yabba-dabba-doo 1200 coupe.
WOW! The most original, unmolested, rust-free 1200 coupe I ever did see, located in Humboldt county, Northern California. This would make an easy resto for some lucky person. Complete with radio blanking plate & factory tach! Great price too! http://www.datsun1200pn.i8.com/index.htm
IMHO, a wee bit pricey for a stock drivetrain 1200 that's a solid "15 footer" (looks great from 15' away) with a killer stereo, but it don't hurt to ask, I reckon.
