For some reason, my gearbox gave in today. Driving along, it started to wine real bad, i thought it was my thrust bearing. I pulled over and my mate picked it up on the car trailer. Got it off the trailer at the mechanics and moving the car it just blew apart and made a horride sound. I just gave the mechanics dad my spare gerbox too. So now i gotta fork out to get another gearbox, and pay for the mechanice to change it and change my clutch, and maybe get the flywheel machined. All up, its gonna cost me $300.

Hmmm seems like too much for me. Id get it jacked up, engine supported, gear stik out and g box out, but thats all i could probably do.. I might need some help.. I thought id try it, everywhere i called today quoted $160+, all i needed was labour, ive already got the clutch. Didnt think it took that long.
Haha im pretty happy with the A series right now!! Conversion for later!

Feels like my piston gets stuck coz theres heaps of free play in the pedal, not because of the shims tho. So we ripped it off and it was jammd in. We got it out and it was moving freely so we put it back in. I still dont know whats wrong with mine tho. Coule it be the old brake hoes?

Just wondering how hard it is to change a clutch in the A series? And what are the steps involved?
