Ianey, it would have been a lot more.
And as for Bathurst, that straight is down a big hill and I've seen lower HP cars crack 235 from a standing start at the top. They used to have a comp there
(maybe still do), where they start at the top of the straight and the highest speed through the traps wins.

By the way, the 1600 vid in my sig is on a tiny section of Wakefields straight and hits around 120 km/h (top of 2nd gear), so that gives you an idea

I'm more interested in the mathematics that makes a 300km/hr bike go 340 with the added weight and drag of a passenger.

Not to mention how the hell the passenger could actually stay on the bike at that speed.....

Yeah, it was out of use before my time, but even now as a road its not the safest road around!!
Every year there is a historic car meeting held in the sporting fields that are now inside the track (Jack Brabham Park). They used to also close the track on this day for a bit of a fang. No competition racing just a chance for the cars to drive around without being hassled. But they stopped this a couple of years ago when someone rolled a mini and died.
There was also used to hold 1/8th mile drags, but this also got stopped because someone couldn't control their VL commodore....shame. There is still drags there now but only late at night
This photo of my old 1600 was actually taken on the track, before the latest tragedy. As you can see, not exactly a great surface for a racetrack. I really would have loved to see some racing on this track back in the day.

Example: You have a 133hp engine that makes 100hp at the wheels. And so it takes 33 hp to turn the drivetrain.
Now going by the percentage theory, if you put a 300hp engine on the same drivetrain it will make roughly 200hp at the wheels, meaning the same drivetrain now loses 100hp.

So....is the 30% thing crap or does the bigger engine create more losses (perhaps due to bigger load)?
