Woodydat, as you get older and wiser in the ways of the Datsun you will learn not to question whether or not something will work if it only costs you a carton of XXXX.

...and this is the exact reason why I will never own a 1200 ute. Overpriced. The worst part is there are people out there who will pay this much thus keeping the ridiculous prices. Toyota AE86's are another fine example of overpricing.

To get a good all round performer I will go for a modified A15 engine and do the brakes and suspention also.
For drag racing I will do brakes and a A15 with a turbo.
It all comes down to what you want to do with the car and how much money you have.
Drag race or track.

Agreed. I have an A12 turbo, loads of suspension and brake work. The car in its first event aquitted itself very well.

My a-series turbo setup is; in comparison to a ca18det setup, a cheap little number. Let me just say that it has enough mumbo to keep up with the big boys around the track.

As for brakes/suspension.....the best mods I did to the car. I gain many seconds on other competitors by the sheer distance I can dive in under brakes. The 1200 is very light and with big brakes stops in excellent time.

Wiggle your tie rods. If they move without the steering then they are worn.

Cheers man. Looking for cheaper than wreckers though. Like castoffs/freebies.

If you're buying an sr20de halfcut why not run the sr20 struts, lower control arms and brakes etc. It is a bolt in job. You just need to modify your tie rods to accept silvia outers and get some r31 castor bars.

When ringing Shannons it helps if you are a member of a CAMS car club. Also depends on what day you ring, who you get, whether they have had any etc. The first time I rung about my datto the answer was no as it was turbo and I was under 25. The next time I rang no problem. $550...thanks for coming. I am still under 25. Go figure.
