Thanks for the reply however I figured it out. The wiring had been converted for an internally regulated alternator. My problem was that I hadn't kept the alternator to use with it. I only had left externally regulated alternators. So I went out and picked up an external regulator and rewired it back to std. All good.

Also I had a tacho problem but I fixed that. I had it wired in reverse.

Running an A12a. So the alternator is on the driver's side now. My problem is my charge light stays on. I think I now have an internally regulated alternator. Using a Mitsubishi one. My question is I have the charge wire, the earth and the light wire, what is the other wire? Will this turn off my charge light? The only eleccy tool at my disposal is a test light. No multimeter.

Yes it may fit but you don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting that on the road legally in QLD. You could go get a CA but be prepared to spend some serious cashola doing your buildup.

Not really any way around it unless you make a blow thourgh system by sealing and pressurising carbies. Your turbo may last 3mins or 3months without carbon sealing on a suk thru jobby.

$1200 sounds good. Normally I am quite amazed at what ppl will pay for a ute but that sounds like a good price. Mind you NZ $$$$. Hehe

The turbo in question is my current Garret T25. It was in very good nick with very little shaft play. The problem is ANY turbo not carbon sealed will fail when you run fuel through it. The std seals will not stand up to fuel and they will perish. T3 I think may be alittle big. If I remember corrcetly the Garrett T3 also has the wastegate incorporated into the exhaust dump pipe. More of a pain to fabricate aftermarket stuff.

I would recommend a garret T2 or T25. Either way you are going to have to rebuild it unless you can find a turbo which is already carbon sealed. My sponsor will have a carbon sealed T25 here in Brisbane for sale soon. However the price will be around the $450 mark as it will be fully rebuilt.

*Edit: Forgot to mention some ofthe garret turbos came out carbon seale but you won't know until you get them on. *

The main problem you are going to have is with your turbo. I don't believe the Toyota CT series of turbos can be carbon sealed. If you don't carbon seal them the fuel will eat through your compressor housing seal and into your oil gallery. The fuel will then mix and thin out your oil which in turn will then be able to pass through the rear seal into your exhuast housing and out your exhaust. Oil will also be pissing into your intake as well now that the fornt seal is fudged. Thus you start blowing craploads of oil smoke and raw oil out your exhaust. Speaking from experience.

Spec are as follows,

Engine: Acid dipped, cleaned the block, decked the pistons slightly (I only took the dish off them and made them flat top), A14 head, balanced bottome end and lightened flywheel. I have no idea what compression it is running but it is lower than std. I am running the std dizzy and it will be setup so that the timing does not advance past a certain point. It is not fully tuned atm but enough so I can rego it. No idea how it really goes yet as I have not given it a real test drive.

Custom intake plenum and turbo manifold as seen in my avataar. SU sitting in front of the T25 turbo which has been rebuilt and carbon sealed. 2.5' mandrel exhaust.

I went a12 because I have to keep my engine capacity under 2L for racing. According to CAMS' rules with my turbo on my car is 1992.8cc's.

Harry: First event was going to be coastal classic but I don't know if it will be ready in time.

I run ca18det front struts, brakes etc and r31 skyline castor bars. Bolt in stuff apart from putting the correct thread on your 1200 tie rods to match the ca outer tie rod ends and using 2 driver side inner tie rod ends.

Well it finally runs. It is not completely tuned but it does idle and rev nicely. I have only driven it about 400m and started to come onto boost very early. The ignition curve still needs to be played with so I don't get as much advance and some more finer tuning on the SU is needed. I also have to move my throttle cable position as it is very jerky and susceptable to heat from the turbo and exhaust.

A12 turbo suk thru jobby. T25 with 1 3/4' SU.
