With that sort of compression on decent octane fuel you should be using something like a BP6E or even a BP7E. I would imagine that you are running about 10-12degress of initial advance.
Has the distributor had the ignition curve changed ???. Some Datsun distributors have heaps of advance in the distributor(mainly A14&A15) which isn't a good thing for modified motors.
The units out of the A12's tend to have less, allowing you to run more initial.
Basically giving better performance.

Hello all
Due to unforseen circumstances I am having to offer my car for sale.
It is a 1973 Datsun 1200 Coupe with a stock but balanced A12 in it. The body is in very good condition(Michael Swanton can verify this).
It has Stanza Struts with MetalKing pads, a new Whiteline front swaybar and neoprene bushes throughout. The wheels are 13x5.5 alloy 5 spokes with 185/70
tyres.
It also comes with a A12(bored to 1288cc) in pieces(new-rings,bearings,gaskets,oil pump,t/chain etc supplied) plus an RPM performance clutch and a Whiteline
Rear swaybar kit.
I also have 2 performance camshafts, a heavily ported(with double valve springs) A12 head and twin HS4(1 1/2) SU's on a LYNX manifold.
There is also a set of 13x5.5 hotwire alloy wheels that are included.
I am open to offers but I am hoping to get about A$4500 for it all.
Regards

James

Where in Australia can I buy new headbolts and rodbolts for my little A-series. A set of each plus freight from
the States pretty painful.
Any ideas ????
Every engine reconditioner I have asked has laughed at me.
All you guys with these Brutal A14's & 15's must have got them from somewhere.

Try www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au
They are in Australia but will ship anywhere.
Probably a cheaper option with the weak Australian Dollar.
Just a thought.....

I have bought a rear swaybar kit to fit my coupe.
The problem is the muffler is right in the way of one of the chassis links.
Has anyone else had this problem ?? I thought about just having a resonator and no muffler to give me clearance but I don't know how
loud this will be.
Any thoughts ?????
