Deiced to start some repairs, hopefully do most of it myself. This rust doesnt look too good, might have to unpick the support panel under the front guard, too see if any futher damage has been done. Thats the only way you can see damage from the water drain isnt it?

bit of an update, bought a set of genuine nos weather shields for the 120y, as well as a "sunny gx" tail light centre garnish. both installed, although the tail lights and garnish need a bit of attention (painting etc) to make them look neat. pics to come!

hey mate, i think its easier to fab up own mounts onto existing crossmember. i unpicked the old ones, fileld the holes and made some new ones out of plat. sit the engine in the bay where you want it, on bits of wood etc and design from there. h145 will die, i know as mine just has, spat the spider gear pin.

180b will bolt in, but need petty much 180 everything for it to work. didnt suit my needs a i wanted to keep struts etc all 120y. apart fom brakes, which are now s13 silvia.

has anyone actually done a weight comparison with say a bw68 or H165 to a shortened r31 diff? still tossing up diff options as this h145 locker isnt going to last long, and I cant find any LSD option for the BW68.

Thanks

hey guys so finally got my car back after being tuned, turns out when I got the head reconditioned, cylinder 4 valves were burtn, so head got a service and those valves replaced. after carbs fitted and tuned, the other three cylinders are low on compression compared to 4, valves seats are starting to wear, so long story short the head needs to come off again to do the rest. long story short if renewing one set of valves do the lot, saves a bit of headache.

It still running ten times better than what it was though, so good in fact that it blew the diff. The cross pin that holds the spider?? gears came loose, falling into the pinion gear, so hopefully this afternoon it will be welded up and driving tomorrow. Locker until I get my BW68 freshened up and installed.

also installed a maddat steering box brace (they didnt have a listing for one, but I called them up and they were to happy to make one up, so I'd dare say they will have a lsting for one now) and it tightgens the steering up a lot. no movement from the extra tension runnning wider wheels. defiantly worth the money spent.

anyway thats all

josh

drivers seat is in and running, just need to powdercoat the brackets to make them nice and neat. car is at the mechanics at the moment getting a new set of webers tuned for her. once its back on the road I have a few things I'd like to complete on her, front lip, fender mirrors etc all in good time, heres the carbs:

also started fabbing up some decent radiator brackets, instead of my poor excuse old ones. modified toyota camry items:

new front end has been put on to JDM indicators (wired to indicator circuit as im sure cops will have a field day if I have amber parkers) and old school headlights to keep the look:

latest plans with the motor are to mock up everything I need on the stuffed motor, and transfer it onto the running car and see how it all goes. Then start a rebuild on the stuffed motor. I'm contemplating moving the alternator onto the passenger side similar to the early a12's and mounting the supercharger on the spark side, and utilising a toothed drive system that kemotorsport can supply. I have bought a genuine alternator bracket (from thermo housing) to assist with mounting either the charger or alternator depending on what route I go.I can see the water inlet pipe being in the road though, may have to shorthen this.

no finished photos, soon to come. hopefully do drivers side door next, when tahts done, it will be getting a full rebuild mew seals, door cards etc and hopefully spray the inside of the door in new colour. was thinking of the hakotora grey, not sure on the coulour code though.

plan is get the car to a stage where I can do a closed door spray job and the whole car be will finished, taht way I can more or less keep it as a daily.
