yeah- I saw this episode when I was in the UK in 2006. I'm not entirely sure it wasn't a repeat even then, but it is certainly a classic episode!

Pity they didn't get the 1000 and 1200 in the UK. They would have belted the crap out of the late 60's English stuff too!

They sold both of those here!! I own a 72 1200 Wagon, a friend owns the first sunny ever imported to the uk, a 1000, and another friend has a vb10. All UK cars.

Clarkson has a soft spot for the 120Y for some reason. Good on him for it :)

Has anyone got any more info on this conversion please? What parts do I need? And does anyone have a template for the caliper bracket? I'd like to uprate the brakes on my Wagon and this looks a good conversion :)

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the welcome folks, Quinn, i didn't have to alter the front lip at all, if you hold it up the the front valance it doesnt look like it will fit, but i just welded some nuts onto some big penny washers, marked out the holes so it lined up and bolted it on, and it pulls the valance into shape perfectly :)

I've got 2 weeks of 12 hournights to work from Monday, so the overtime i get from that will be going to fund the CA fitting parts :D

I've also added an old Momo steering wheel to it:

Future plans are to fit the new rear quarters and door skins I have for it, and to source some genuine sills to fit too. I'll then respray it and I'm going to hopefully be ordering some CA fitting parts from Mad Dat shortly :)

Cheers,
Mike

I then had a bit of a play with it, I shortened the front struts 90mm, fitted some mk1 golf gti front shocks, and chopped 3 coils out the springs, I then fitted some 2" lowering blocks to the rear, and polished up and added some tyres to a set of wheels I imported form Japan.. My friends helped me out by rebuilding one of the rear arch dog legs and respraying the rear quarters. I have also fitted a mk1 golf gti front spoiler.

Here's the result :)

Hi folks, I'm miles away in sunny England, but thought you might appreciate my 1200 :) I'm also hoping I can find out a bit more about how to convert it to CA18DET power..

I bought it 2 months ago, 2 owners from new, pretty much stock as a rock, here's some pics when I picked it up:

It is the last 1200 Wagon on the road in the UK!
