If we take a look, notice that most of the people that favor the nissan A12 motor are in areas that parts are really easy to come by. Here in the states we get the screwed when they import cars here. We are just now getting the Mitz EVO, when they have been made for some time. It is easier to get a rotary motor and cheaper that any other engine. Im a big fan when it comes to Nissian motor like the, VG30dett, new VG35de, Ca18det, L16,18,20,etc. If I was able to get one of these motors and a Rwd tranny, put it in at a low cost, I would. If I was living in Japan I would have everything possible in my little 12a motor. Right now I had to make my own intake manifold, and hunt for three months via internet for a header, the weber came from Canada. Other internal parts I can't find for good price vs performance. My cars hauls ass but, not enough to keep up. The money I spent already, I could have swaped in something else with more power. Parts aren't easy to find here. That's why we're stuck on swapping in what good motors we can get our hands on.
I love my car and I will always back up Nissan over anyother import.
Some people like to drive fast, others like to drive faster than some people.

It would be fairly easy to put a rotary motor in a 1200. The overall size is the same. Small engine with small tranny and the weight would be close, which is a plus when pulling up to a heavier car.
The plus is that the hp on a stock 12a rotary is the same to a highly motified A12 datsun motor. If you spend the same amout of money on modifying both motors the rotary will blow the A12 away. Plus turbo would be a bolt on item. Im into keeping the pride of nissan with my car, but wouldn't the pride still be there after you blow the doors off of some honda or v8?

I would go with the rotary motor, Im in the states too and it is easier the get a 12a motor than any other motor that are out there. Granted in other countries better motors are avalible but here we are restricted by the laws of smog and other things. The motor that comes here in the states from other countries are week and expensive the modify. Got the corner pick and pull and get a complete rotary motor for 150 bucks. the rotary, you can slap it in and hang on for a lot cheaper that building a hard to find nissan or other good motors. Unless you go with a V8...Naaa
