The 1981 2 liter A15a engine in the datson 210 wagon will go into my car the Datsun 210 1982. My car currently has a 1.2 liter, automatic, 3 speed.
I don't know much about cars, I'm going to go to school and take some classes while I'm there and hopefully work on my car in the shop.
I have random questions that don't always make sense seeing as how I'm learning. I'm 22, and I just started learning about my car 2 years ago off and on.
Just looking for ideas:) and I need a new exaust which someone told me we could make one... I don't know about making one.. what's the best for the car with a 2 liter 5 speed? -.0

Hi.
I am changing my datsun 1982 210 from a automatic 3 speed, 1.2 liter to a 5 speed manual 2 liter from a Datsun 1981 wagon. I hear it is a bolt in project, would I need to do any cuts to fit in the transmission? Or move the brake master cylinder to the passanger side? Are there any wires that need to be extended?
Better yet - where is a good place to look for information on this project?

Thank you :)
Allie

Lol, awesome. Thank you, I was trying to convince someone who didn't believe me that Datsuns could run up to even 400,000.

How many miles can a Datsun get up to starting from 1982?
My car reads: 324,500
- plus the last number always changes

So I have an A12A automatic, and getting a newer engine A15 and 5 speed I would need a new transmission, peddles, master cylinder (slave cylinder?) and I was wondering would I have to re-do any wiring?
I'm saving up so I can get all the pieces before I start this project, does anyone have any other ideas of what I might need. Just to clarify there is no sense in boring an A12A 1.2 to a 1.4? A new engine would be better? Since the A12A is a 1.2 liter if you bore it out to a 1.4 and do upgrades does it thus turn into a A14? And does an A12A with manual transmission get better fuel economy than a A15 manual transmission? Not like it really matters more power would be less fuel efficient??
I'm not sure how long it takes to put in another engine, but I'm hoping once I have ALLL the equipment it won't take too long.

and do I need a shortened/lengthened drive line if I put in a 5 speed?

Thank you for all your advice! I will look into all these ideas. To answer one question I do believed it was shipped under 'sunny' model, it is a 1.2 liter, 3 speed, automatic... I will look about for some parts and see if I can't upgrade it to the 5 speed sounds like a good idea. Thank you.

Hey:) I have a datsun 1982 210. Does anyone have any ideas of what engine I could put in it? I want to make it a 4 or 5 speed. Some options given were that I could bore it out from a 1.2 liter to a 1.4 liter... it has great miles per the gallon already, and am not sure what engine would give that and be able to be more powerful.
???

I did have a problem getting it to start in drive. I didn't know what was wrong with it at first so I spent 10 minutes moving the steering wheal, and moving the key around in drive. Didn't work. I called my friend, and he said to try putting it in neutral. Sure enough, it worked no problem. Thank you for your advice, I haven't payed much attention to the shifter being the problem, so we will test it out!

HI! I have a problem with my Datsun 1982 210. I think it may be an ignition problem... In park with the e-brake on I turn the key (the lights can come on and the radio) but when I try to start it, it doesn't respond AT ALL. Doesn't start up the engine. I tried to twist the key, turn the steering wheal, for about 15 minutes. I put it in neutral and it starts up no problem. (???)
Anyhow, any info. would be helpful! We considered it to be either an ignition problem or possibly something to do with my transmition? Hmmm...
