has anyone had any experience messing with these engines? ive thought about cam, carbs, valve springs, extractors and exhaust you know the usual stuff but is it worth supercharging them? if so whats the best charger? SC14? can they handle boost?

i have absolutely no idea when it comes to superchargers can an eaton M90 be used on a 4 cylinder? they are cheap as chips on US ebay.

yeah L series is the way to go unless you want injected twin cam goodness, plus tomei cams, injectors, exhaust etc and it should be a fairly quick ute... so much stuff available for the SR but yes expensive.

Im not sure if you could boost the A series and get a celica 5 speed for the 2-2500 mark if you want to go down that path but that could be an option to be explored, if you dont want a boosted car go the L series for a cheapish upgrade.

you could prolly do that for 2 grand with engine cost lol... my mate was selling his L20 with 5 speed plus brand new crow cam in plastic for $500 or less if i remember corectly, then just source a 120y tailshaft and have someone fab up some engine mounts and you most of the way there
