There is lots of motorcycle tuning info on the net...

The typical MC carb has three tuning bands
Pilot (low speed) Jet = Low RPM
Jet needle = Midrange RPM
Main (High speed) Jet = High RPM

The RPM ranges overlap so that the low RPM settings taper off as the midrange RPM settings are coming on. And the midrange RPM tapers off as the High RPM settings start coming on.

The Pilot and Main Jets are numbered and are replaced to affect changes. The needle has clip slots that allow adjustments.

Very basic info here... Your specific carb may be different.

On my Alfa I used a Foordom tool (like a dremmel with a cable drive). Using a high speed cutter I trimmed the extra gasket that protruded into the passage. I mounted the intake to the head with the gasket in between. With the Alfa the intake is really short and you can reach in from the carb side to do the cutting. Obviously this technique won't work with an A-series.

So it can be done. Maybe someone here can suggest how to do it on our engines.

(Old Memory Warning) Since you are cleaning up the electrical connections... Take a look at the plug that connects the wire loom (on the right side under the dash). I had this fail (melted) after I increased the load by adding H4s.

Regarding HID (summarized from what I've read)... these draw less voltage than H4s. You can get kits that adapt them to H4 reflectors. Legal here? I don't know. Typically HID are low beam only. The high beam on these is Halogen due to the HID taking a few moments to warm up. You won't have full power when you flick the high beam on if it's HID. Opinion here... Is it worth it? The question is how much are you going to be driving at night?

I an just ammazed... I now have in my hand an original nissan hood release cable for my 72 1200. I picked it up from the local Nissan dealer.

Even though the part showed NAL, the nice parts guy ordered it anyway. He was then told again by Nissan that it wasn't available. But yesterday, out of the blue, it arrived.

I feel like it's Christmas morning. :)
