I put a CA18DE into an AE71 but sold it to a mate before I got it started. He put the turbo exhaust manifold on, plumed in an Intercooler and, using a standard turbo computer and running 7-8 lbs boost, is now spinning 2nd and 3rd gear up Hillclimbs.
I will check if he is running standard or turbo injectors and what other bits he might have swapped from NA to Turbo. He runs Shell 98RON (V-Power I think) and doesn't report any temp probs with the standard Rad, but the car only gets driven hard for 2-3 mins at a time....

Supercheap, Repco, Autobarn. Any auto parts supplier has rolls of gasket paper in different thicknesses.

I am in the process of partially rewiring a project from another manufacturer (so won't be mentioned on this forum) and have found most of my dramas being to faulty earths either through lack of sufficient bare-metal contact with terminals or simply because I un-did one and didn't re-attach it.

If your stumped then use a multi-meter (M-M) and trace power from the battery to ignition, starter motor as mentioned and fuse box. Then maybe check Earths for broken wires within the sleeves. A decent M-M will be able to send a signal through the wire. Sorry if this is obvious stuff...

Good luck.

Can someone tell me what the problem is with running a resister plug?

AFAIK all it does is filter any interference. Surely heat range would make a greater difference than BP or BPR?

(and just so i feel smart, the P means "Projected Core" on NGK plugs. The bit that sticks out past the thread...)

For what it's worth...

I bought a CA18DET from Rocco's Performance 12 years ago for $2300 and it came with air flow meter, gearbox, wiring loom, comp and other bits and pieces.

IMO $2500 seems reasonable if the kms are right. A compression test shouldn't be a problem if the bloke has nothing to hide.

Mine was in a Sunny Panel Van. Tuned to 160 RWKW with T28 and Series 5 RX7 front mount, (by Scott @ Insight), it was very decent indeed. And never had a problem with the gearbox.

I also bought an N/A with loom, gearbox and comp for $200 a few months back which now has the turbo stuff bolted to it, but that car hasn't been driven properly yet......

Thanks for the reply mate. A blue slip is do-able, a new engineers report for this car is un-do-able.

Thanks again.

I think this thread will have many pages....

I have a car that is engineered in N.S.W but has been unregistered for close to 10 yrs. Does it need to be re-engineered to be registered or is a blue slip sufficient?

This seems to be a hard question for Engineers in my region.

Around 830kg I think. I'll check tomorrow if no-one states authoritively.
